Really?

Hi ladies,  just went to my primary dr yesterday.  I am getting annoyed.  Everything i do is wrong.  He doesn’t want me to drink nutrition shakes, don’t eat this, don’t eat that!  I don’t smoke, drink or anything.  Wants me to get tested and see specialists again for things that got ruled out 6 months ago!  I swear he’s clueless.  Doesn’t want me on hormones.  Wants me to do things “naturally”...yet he has me on an antidepressant 🤣. Doesn’t believe that my fatigue is perimenopause related...yet said that some women have a hard time!  Took more blood and did a chest xray...ugh!  Sorry just needed to vent!

He is insane and has no idea what he's doing. He sounds like he might be on drugs. Change doctors.

This is happening to me too! It's the first time I've went to see my gp and I'm being tested for my thyroid despite being tested 4 months ago. Gp even admitted she didn't think the results would change. Whats the point of doing it?? I'm so so tired all the time, pmt, ratty and irritable, periods all over the place, not sleeping properly, anxiety, bloating, depressive episodes, putting on weight, headaches, sweating etc etc. I can't cope feeling this way. I hope you get answers soon 😊 Ashley x

Hi ashley, My thyroids been tested about 20x in a year (not joking)...and 3 endocrinologists.  They do it to get rid of us.  I told my dr yesterday that if he insisted on more blood, to check for vitamin deficiencies...not retest everything from a month ago...he has never done basic vitamin levels on me...pathetic. The last endocrinologist was a joke, i waited 6 months only to have him tell me he doesn’t deal with women’s hormones.  Idiot.  No wonder our insurance costs are out of control.  (I’m in US). Sometimes these appointments are not even worth the co pay.  Also, you can’t always see who you want, if they don’t take our insurance.  Ugh!

I hope you find some relief too...take good care!  😊

It's awful to go through this without having to wait months to see useless 'professionals'. We're always on an uphill battle and we don't need it x

Lou, avoid xrays, mri's & ctscans as much as you can. Testing your thyroid seems to be the big thing now, since radioactive fallout has caused a rise in thyroid cancer and other ailments related to the thyroid. But 20x is overkill!

Thanks!  I am done...drs ran me ragged last year.  Added to my health anxiety and exhaustion.  Anytime they would use contrast dye, i was sick for a week. Yet told there are no side effects.  Never had the thyroid scanned...always checked everytime I had a blood test.  I told my husband, unless I’m convulsing on the floor to keep me out of the hospital 😀

Good idea. But now you need to find yourself a new doctor.

I'm unsure what kind of thyroid test/contrast dye they used but, if it was a CT scan with dye, you can always tell them that you have a "reaction" to the dye *IF* (Heaven Forbid) you should ever have to have it done again.  A friend of mine has a reaction (she is asthmatic and wheezes for a week or two with the dye).  She informs them and they no longer give it to her.  Apparently, they can do it without it or use another form of it???  Just a thought.

By the way...I've had 2 thyroid scans done now.  The "tracer/dye" that they use does NOT produce any symptoms other than you glow in the dark because it's radioactive iodine (JOKING about the glow in the dark LOL wink

lou42662...why don't you try another doc or...a Naturopathic Doc (they usually do a more thorough work-up when it comes to blood tests and vitamins but, you don't have to follow their protocol if you don't wish...at least you have a report in hand to work with)????

Hi Louellen,  I actually went to a Integrative medical clinic as I wanted to be thoroughly checked for Lyme disease.  My insurance did not cover the visit, but did cover the labs.  Well, turned out I didn’t have LD...hooray!

THey have an MD there, but I saw the nurse practitioner. Anyways, they were trying to tell me I did based on symptoms (and I told her I had been bitten by a tick...but, it was not the kind that usually carries LD, in my area.  However, she didn’t ask what type of tick, and I didn’t mention it.

Again, they wanted to start me on antibiotics, supplements, and wanted me to buy office visits etc.  Some are probably really good, I just felt like a money grab there.  A lot of these places are not well regulated where i live...I think it just became legal recently, so more are getting licenses.

I said no thanks, BUT, you’re correct, I do have pages of bloodwork.  My vitamins are good.  Just went for test to have my ferritin/iron checked.  I read some other ladies chatting about low ferritin and I have those symptoms.  Just out of the multiple tests I’ve had, never had it done. Unbelievable! Sorry this is so long! 😀

By the way, Lou...it could be "low vitamin B12 or Vitamin D or Iron" as well.  Anything is possible but, try to stop re-doing tests that you know have been done and things ruled out.  I really think that you need a new and fresh head and eyes to look at you now.  No harm in a 2nd or even 3rd opinion.  Familiarity can be comforting WHEN you're getting somewhere but, re-doing things???  Nah....go see another doc if you can.
