Hi Ladies,

I'm 32, have 2 children under 3 and am booked in for rectocele repair and possible uterus removal on the 8th October,  and i am ABSOLUTELY terrified.

I'm hoping that some of you who have experienced it will be able to reassure me!

I'm finding it hard to talk to people about it as they don't seem to think it's a big deal - i think because its not an ailment they can physically see - but it is for me. Having read other posts you all seem lovely some at least i might have somewhere i can vent my feelings

Thankyou x

Hi ladies, well im 4 days post op for my rectocele repair, and am at home and doing ok! It turned out i didn't need a hysterectomy, but the rectocele was worse than thought, and i do have a grade 1 cystocyele.

I have struggled to open my bowels, and the stiches that are outside are VERY tender when i do and have had a little fresh bleeding from them

Finding that I'm vert tired, but on the whole doing great and hope that it continues.

I wanted to thank all of you that offered me reassurance as i was very scared, and am not ashamed to say i cried as i went to theatre and when i came around surprised glad its all over with on that front

    Xx

Really well done! It's a scary thing to have done isn't it such a relief afterwards though. Now the rest is up to you. Remember how important it is to rest, nothing heavier than a kettle of water to lift, and when you think the worse is over and you can get back to normal - don't!! You have to take it easier than all the doctors and nurses tell us. I had a grade 2 cystocele and a grade 4 rectocele repaired one year ago this week at the age of 69. I did as I was told and my husband watched me like a hawk to make sure I didn't do anything I shouldn't. It paid off. Now everything is wonderful. PS constipation at the beginning is agony. Get prunes and plenty of citrus fruit, tomatoes and fresh green veg- as well as bran cereals for breakfast. Laxatives are a no, no. Good luck and put your feet up! LadyPink

Great to hear it went ok,  I'm 1year + post op for both front and back repairs, I think it was the best thing I ever did, you may feel very frustrated over the next few months, but looking  back for me it seemed to be over in a flash so just relax and try to enjoy the time off oh and dont lift anything or bend too much, it might be better getting down on your knees to the kids or giving them some steps to come up to you. Planning and preparation will ease things. the best thing I bought was a 'picker upper stick' not sure what they are called but jaws on a stick, which saved loads of bending and stretching, you would be surprised how often it came in handy.

    All the best

Sundagger that is great news! Pleased for you the hysterectomy wasn't required. Now all you need to do is listen to the advice and rest and heal!

I go in in Friday for mine and I am 'packing it'! Hope that's not too much of an Australianism for you. If it is let me know and I can explain ha ha!

    Good luck with your recovery!
