Man makes plans and god laughs..in USA..my knee doc said some just learn to power through. Have had many injections and find that relief should come fairly quick or it may not help. Couple days.. to everyone on this site I say keep the faith, it sucks getting older and those who haven't had this type of pain including doctors won't understand. Best advise is realize that you need to slow or change activities that upset and agrivate the joint. Once arthritis sets in short of replacement you've got to take it easy on the joint.

Hi there, I had the injection over Chrismas did I was told and only just have a little pain but nothing I can't live with compaired to what I was going though. It is amazing. It has helped the pain all over , has ezed it so I can have a good life for now. With god's help may it last. Still learning I am not 21 any more haha and need to learn to slow down. Have a great day always.

My doctor said I had a 5 mm 'spot' in my right heel, affecting the Plantar Fasciitis, so she sent me to a specialist. They x-rayed it, then gave me a date to fix it (last December).
OK, nerve blocker followed by the injection. The doctor explained what he was doing, and took about 2 minutes to give me the injection - SLOWLY, and not a drop of blood when he finished. Next morning, numbness from the nerve blocker gone, pain gone, up and about, and stayed that way for 4 months.
I had it done again two days ago. This time another doctor gave me the injection.
She was in and out in less than 30 seconds, and it hurt. The injection site bled a lot, and she was out the door like a rocket, leaving the nurse to stop the bleeding and apply a band-aid. What is really annoying is that she injected me in the wrong spot, so now I have a foot that I can't walk on from soreness from the injection and the original sore spot is again hurting.
The specialists will be hearing from me tomorrow (they don't open on weekends)
My point is, if the specialist knows what he/she is doing, and takes DUE CARE, then an injection in the heel should just feel 'uncomfortable', and when the numbness goes away, you should be able to walk within 24 hours

Hi
I think it is the luck of the draw as to whether the injection works. I had one 3 weeks ago and it hasn't made any difference. I also think that the degree of pain varies so much . I have people say to me Oh I have that. I can't wear shoes as my foot is swollen also and I have bought from a podiatrist with the special insoles. They are not comfortable either. The best thing I find for relief is taping the foot. Whilst it doesn't cure but it makes walking easier and lessons the pain.

Probably not. You need to go back to your doctor and tell him that

Hi Julie,
Cortisone injections should be OK after a couple of day's but they vary depending on who does the injection and how good they are and as pf is tissue not a joint it is doubtful that they are a good idea.
Those of us with pf find concrete and stone floors aggravate the condition so I would advise wearing trainers with cushioning in them ether gel insoles or gel heel pads and keep on with the calf stretching and pysio but the acupuncture rarely works for long and is most effective with nerve problems. Hot foot bathes before the stretching exercises is also helpful, icing only really numbs the area so is very short term although it can reduce inflammation, see what works best for you just save surgery for the last option if all else fails.

Sorry the cortisone did not work I never bothered to try as I was told they would not work and I was already having them in my Knee where they worked like magic and last about 6 months but they told me they only worked for joints the larger the better so the knee is fine and hip and shoulder but other joints are smaller so less likely to work so they need to see they are getting the needle in the right place so they normally advise a hospital do it as they have the scanners to guide them.
I can only say the stretching exercises and cushioning worked for me but it took 3 months and went as soon as it had come.
