Hi deb I realize it has been three years ago but it sounds like you and I both have had this excruciating pain in the shoulder for too long I had surgery in September and it is January and it hurts everyday. Now the doctor wants to do a manipulation under anesthetic also how did your manipulation go and how long was your recovery I am just dreading this. I hope you have recovered well and that you have no more pain I am praying for that for myself. I was doing my therapy at home and then at the therapist but I find it during the day sometimes it hurts so much I don't want to do it. I also have a lot to do here on the ranch so I suppose I may be doing too much.

      Tanya71990,

I had manual manipulation under anesthesia On November 30th; best thing I ever did. I under went 4 months of PT and my left shoulder would not full range of motion. I kept saying this one is different from the right. Well.. the surgeon found bone spurs and that’s why my shoulder would not recover. Please, please do your exercises at home after surgery; no matter how painful. I am still in PT with post op follow up on Feb 9th.  I have seen amazing progress..!

Thanks for this forum. Glad to hear some positive results. I fell over 7 months, have a small tear in my right shoulder went to PT for a few months , then workers comp stopped it until they sent me for a MRI and orthopedic referral. I then ended up for a frozen shoulder, I think from the sudden stop of the PT. Needless to say, a lot of pain and not much progress even after PT three times a week for the last couple of months. I have just been approved by workers comp for my MUA and will go for pre-op on Monday. Hope I can heal finally.

So I  originally went in for a cleanout on my shoulder for bursitis and a spur that went well and I came down to Florida to rest and recover and when it was ready to do my rehab in Florida, unfortunately went to a bad physical therapy and the therapist wrenched out my shoulder so bad that he did so much trama to my shoulder that I wond up getting frozen shoulder. That was with only one physical therapy treatment I had with him other then my  assessment appointment . And omg  was i in so much pain when he was doing the the therapy, I  was kicking the table so hard and crying and the therapist wouldn’t even  stop !!! I left there didn’t go back for anymore therapy, left crying,!! Left Florida earlier than I was supposed to cuz the pain was so bad , went back to my surgery,  back home and then found out after that I had  to go for an  excruciating dye injection MRI & that I had to have yet another surgery .

The MRI showed possible  torn tendons which turned out to be really just my frozen shoulder, my scar tissue was so bad . All from the trauma that he caused to my shoulder I had to go through surgery ..  I now have been out of work  since December when I had my first surgery done now I just had the second surgery done on March 8 .Unfortunately I’m self-employed and I own my own hair salon and spa so that’s the type of job where you are required to have a lot of mobility in your arms and you need to be standing all day so I’m not quite there yet and still doing a lot of therapy and PT s unfortunately I’m self-employed and I own my own hair salon and spa so that’s the type of job where you are required to have a lot of mobility in your arms and you need to be standing all day so I’m no where’s there yet and still doing a lot of therapy and PT . My doctor said when he did my surgery for my frozen shoulder and is soon as he put me out my arm was so stiff that they couldn’t even move it ,and he had to cut through so much scar tissue that he was shocked at how bad it was. now I’m  having to do all these exercises at  Home every day every two hours then of course PT three times a week . I still have an off a lot of pain . I’ve now been off work over three months and my question to you is how long were you off from work how long did it take you to get back a good amount of your mobility and your arm and I guess everybody’s different , but being self-employed I have no insurance to cover me while I’m off because when you’re self-employed you don’t get anything and I’m getting a little worried that I’m still going to be off at least another 6 to 7 weeks and when you’re working with a hair salon in clientele I’m afraid that I’m going to lose a lot more clients I’ve already lost a good handful of them already . From the day the PT messed up my shoulder Jan 22 I was in  agony  till they did my surgery!! I have never been in so much pain in my life !!! I had 3 kids and I’d rather go though labor and delivery than this pain !! I have lupus and fibromyalgia that I’ve  dealt with for 20 some years now and let me tell you I’ve had some pretty bad days and this is the worst thing ever .

Is there anyone out there that’s gone though this surgery ? How long have you been out ? Anyone with the same job as mine??

    Thank you

     Frustrated

Hi Teresa:  I feel your pain!!!  i went back to work six days after MUA and arthroscopic BUT I have a desk job.  There were days that I cried, and cried in therapy too...But I will say after two months, it was better, and after three I was pain free. March 31st it will be five months and I am so happy I had the surgery...I do not have full range of motion back yet but its pretty good, and I can even sleep on my side which I had the surgery.  It was a painfuly recovery but now so glad I did it because I would probably still be having those pains and not being able to sleep at night...My sister had frozen shoulder in both arms and did nothing - dealt with the pain and it took two years to go away, but there was no way I was dealing with this pain for another year...and yes this was worst than child birth...good luck to you...

Thank you for your reply, I’m hoping that in 3 months a lot of this throbbing pain in my bicep goes away . When you were doing your stretches did it feel like you were ripping the scar tissue?

That’s what it feels like most of the time 😪.

I’m going to remain hopeful and 🙏🏻Lol

. It’s goid to talk to others who have been thought this

Hi I had MUA on my frozen shoulder that was caused by rotator cuff surgery in November 2017. I had the MUA 4 weeks ago and it is still really painful, I have much better range of movement, but still can't lift it up on its own without the left hands help. My physio said I can get back to doing whatever I want now, so last week at work I was lifting tables and chairs for a big event. It still hurts like mad and my doctor gave me a cortisone shot today, so hoping that might bring some relief. I can sleep on it now, although it's still hard to sleep due the to pain, and I don't want to get hooked on pain meds. I'm back to trying yoga, as thought that might help with the stretching, I suppose its early days. MUA was the best thing I did though, feel like its getting somewhere now. And it dose feel like it will rip it again or even break the arm the way the physio pulls it about, but he says it won't do any damage to it as it is still so tight and it's the only way to handle it, got to be cruel to be kind I suppose!

It hurt bad when doing the stretches - I broke down a couple times in PT too.  Hated it. And I would not let the Physical Therapist touch me - I did the exercises/stretches myself.  And I had throbbing pain too.  Did not sleep in my bed for over a month - slept on recliner and went to sleep with an ice pack on it - was the only way I could fall asleep.  One thing though I never really knew who to believe - the surgeon said to use ice - not heat.  The Physical Therapist said to use heat because it was already frozen.  I actually used both and ice at night.  And ice after PT sessions too. It was really rough the first month...After a month, I went back to my bed.  All I wanted was a good night sleep...Sometimes I would wake up in agony and just kept thinking "is it ever going to get better"????  But it does get better...

Thank you  for writing . As you can see  I don’t even get on my phone much , because it hurts to  hold, text or do anything w/my phone  /iPad etc.

I don’t have a recliner to sleep in so it’s been Challenging  to say the least to find  Comfort  Sleeping 😴.

My pain is been more than I could have imagined. Living with lupus/fibromyalgia you get use to pain but all this on top of it , I’ve had days where I’ve prayed please make this stop!!

I am still 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻  For that pain to stop . I’ve now missed  almost 4 months of work with no pay and no insurance benefits. Still paying out all the doctors fees /PT appointments .

This can really make you depressed too, I’m  self employed, and watching my business go down fast . 40 yrs of building it up and a few months to complete destroy it because I can’t work ...

I’m I vet determined person, have to be when you business depends on you getting back , and making money .

      😩 I’m worried..

Hi I’m Claire, I agree with you - this is so painful.  I wonder if I can stand any more of it.

Stick with it, it's a very long process and thought I would never recover or get back to where I was. 2 surgeries on it and 2 years later, I'm finally getting there! A very good Chiro has helped me immensely! Never go through it tho again and would not except I had ripped my bicep off too and had to see it back on and fix rotator while in there

    dale ,

I think I’m going out of my mind at times , I’ve never . Had  such a tough time coming back from something in my life!!

This sucks , not only all the pain , feeling like I’m  ripping though scare tissue eveytime I do my PT and  exercises  . But being self employed and not getting paid a penny while I’m off is just as bad!! And not knowing when I’ll be back to work !! I own  a Salon & Spa and wither 5 days a week 40 yrs I have into my business and feel like I’m watching it flush down the toilet !! Your clients want you and only you!!

And the way I’m going I’m not in any way close to getting back to work !! My second shoulder surgery was because of one bad physical therapist that messed up my arm so bad I got frozen shoulder!!

    This is not good!!

I thought I would never recover! He told me beforehand that after the first I'd be back to work in no time. What a lie!! 6 weeks in a sling with no movement allowed, then go to pt 3x a week. Painful as all heck then I go back for follow up, then says it's froze! Only 3% it happens to he says. Total BS! Then have to wait till 6 months from original battery before he can do the second one in April 2017. A long time with out pay! I end up having to retire early because of bills! Solved and got SSD quickly thank God with no physical needed because in total I've had 16 surgeries. It's just now" almost" back to normal
