Rectocele repair and anal fissure.

Hi all,

I'm really hoping someone on this forum can associate with this problem.

I'm having a Rectocele repair, have had problems for years, and finally decide to have it done.

My worry is, I have haemorrhoids and have been bleeding badly for the last few weeks, but not sure if this is from an anal fissure.

The stinging pain is awful, and I think straining because of the Rectocele is making the bleeding worse.

I am worried the surgery will make the fissure worse initially.

Anyone have any ideas?

The surgery is soon, and I can't get the fissure to heal up.

Waiting in hope๐Ÿ˜•

I had a/p repairs and hysterectomy 5 weeks ago and since the surgery have a confirmed anal fissure which has almost given me more grief than the surgery. The pain is definately different to the burning pain of haems-more of a knife like pain. I have been using coconut oil suppositories, heat and GTN cream from the gp and it is definately getting better. It would be worth seeing GP to confirm if it is a fissure. Really hope it clears up soon for you.ย

      Thankyou, I hope so too.

It's like having an episiotomy every day for the last five weeks!

Never goes away, I hope you get your pain sorted, I'm dreading Rectocele repair more because of this than the op itself.

I'll try and get some coconut oil tomorrow.

      What's GTN cream?

Glyceril Trinitrate. it has to be prescribed. The GP said its the medicine used for angina as it relaxes smooth muscle. It relaxes the anus to allow blood flow to the area to heal the tear. I made my own suppositories by rolling coconut oil in grease proof paper and freezing sorry gross I know but I was willing to try anything and it's definately helped. Also recommended is a hot bath after a bm. I can't bathe until 6 weeks but bought a sort of portable bidet thing off amazon.ย

Hi, I came home Sunday pm.

He removed ovary and found I had loads of adhesions after previous hysterectomy, so op was a lot longer.

He did posterior repair, all went well.

It took three days to get rid of all the gas from the laparoscopy!

The catheter came out on the second day which made things more comfortable, no problems at all passing urine afterwards.

it's day four now, and the problem is constipation, taking lactulose, plus laxatives at night, and eating and drinking ok, but not a peep, just tummy cramps.

Any suggestions from anyone would be welcome,as dreading the first bm.

Hi Carole,I'm so last yuou are all sorted love.. Flaxseeds are wonderful for boiwels. I buy mine from Holland and Barratt. Linwood's are the name.

Alksdo I find orasnges are great for keep yuou regular. If yuou can stomach peppermint tea and fennel with honey isd really good too.I don't take over the counter

Stuff that's why I recommend natural forms.I sprinkle the flaxseed over natural yogurt and a touch of honey in the morning and another tables spoon at night.drtink plenty of fluids.

too. Are yuou in much pain? Hugs to you and rest๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜

Hi Carole, glad all went well. I took a stool softener before & after op. I too was worried about 1st bm. I kept fluids high and smacked on frozen grapes. With pressure feeling in bm area I was worried I might not get message to go as it felt like I needed to go all the time. But on the 3rd day I did know . I had drunk some tea coffee the night before. I was worried about pain and staining but icepacks before bm and gentle massage of bum cheeks really helped. It was more discomfort than pain. I find any hot drinks help. Hope this really helps. Happy healing ๐Ÿ˜Š
