Recumbent bike

Hello fellow hipsters! Happy Spring Break! At least here in Texas it is!! 🤠 Back in February when I saw my dr at the 6 mons mark after hip revision he said it was ok to ride a recumbent bike. So when I went to therapy I told my therapist. So they had one and I tried it. Needless to say I could NOT petal the full circle so she just told me to go one way then the other. Didn't do it again till today. I was in therapy, one more day this week and they are cutting me loose after 6 months, I told a different therapist and I asked if that was breaking hip precautions she said yes and I told her how my dr said it was ok to do and I tried awhile back but couldn't. So she asked if I wanted to try again since dr said it was ok. So I did....I was so scared 😳. I couldn't peddle forward so she said to peddle backwards. I got to a point and still seemed like I couldn't do it so she helped ever so slowly and asked what was preventing me from doing it. I said it felt hard but mostly fear!! But I did it!! So for 5 mins I pedaled backwards on my own occasionally trying to go forward but can't. It was kind of cool to do but I was scared!! So was wondering has anyone had trouble getting on a recumbent bike? I'm hoping one day to be able to do this!! 🤗🤓🤠

    Hi Linda

Happy spring break to you too! Texas sounds so glamorous the weather in the U.K. Is spring like at the moment! I'm 15 weeks post op but haven't braved the bike yet! Asked my GP for physio as none was offered after leaving hospital. Keep peddling and keep us updated on your progress

Thanks Julie! Right now am having terrible pain in my thigh. Feels like the gabapentin is not helping. I'm so very sad. Sitting has become so bothersome now! Physical therapy seems to think it because I'm using muscles that I have not used in a very long time. Dr says because I've gone from short muscles to stretched muscles I'm going to have to endure this. It's definitely a discouraging thing to go through. I think using bike the other day really aggravated my thigh. Thanks again will keep let y'all know. LD

You poor thing! Well I'm here if you want a moan. The good news is that you haven't dislocated your hip. The bad news is the pain. You must be so fed up and if you are in pain you can't get comfortable anywhere. Hope th pain meds start to help soon.

      Keep smiling 😬

Thank you Julie!! I did have a pretty good day yesterday!! Was happy about that!! And yes when you are in pain and discomfort you can't get comfortable no matter what you do!! And you don't enjoy anything!! So here's hoping the rest of week will be good as my hubby and I are out of town!! Celebrating 35 years of marriage!! Take care! Hugs 🤗 LD
