Red and sore foreskin

Posted , 2 users are following.

My foreskin is red and sore, also last time I had sex I bled from just under the head of my penis.

I have seen my gp and he diagnosed thrush and gave me some Daktacort but this has made no difference and if anything makes it more sore.

I'm really getting pretty fed up with this now so would be grateful for any help

Do you wash your penis with shower gel / strong detergent? Try washing with just water as detergents remove all the natural oils and natural bacteria thet help keep it healthy.

Also if that doesn't help and it is thrush try Canesten Dual Action 1% w/w Cream (active ingredient Clotrimazole)

A picture would be useful if neither the above works.

    Good luck

I don't wash my penis with any shower gel or detergents, only water and simple soap. I've tried the canesten with no effect, that's why the doctor gave me the daktacort.

I'd put a couple of pictures on if I could but can't see any option to do that

      Thanks

I would stop using the simple soap and just use water and see how it is after a week. But of course go the doctors for proffessional advice.

If you're in the UK, you could go to a genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinic - google "GUM clinic near me" for details.  They specialise in this sort of stuff, and you can normally get an appointment much quicker, or walk in.

In the meantime, these links may help.  The second one is written for doctors:

    Good luck!

From those pics, it still looks like thrush/balanitis.  If Daktacort and Canesten didn't help yet, I'd ask the doctor if they can suggest something else.
