Red area on penis head
Posted , 3 users are following.
Hi,
Over the past 2-3 months I have noticed red area on my penis head. Haven't really noticed it before but now I am continually checking and cleaning my penis. I have been checked for Sti and all clear. Not sure if it's the soap I have been using, have tried not using soap for a while but no change. Is it balantis?

It could be balanitis, but it's hard to say without seeing a pic. This should help you add images:

If you're using a phone or tablet, you may need to choose the desktop/PC option in your browser, or if that doesn't work, you may need to use a PC or laptop.

That just looks like mild balanitis to me. Personally, I wouldn't see a doctor about it, unless it gets a lot worse, or never clears up.
If it's balanitis, then these links may help:

Washing (with water, no soap) daily, and taking a leak and washing after masturbation or sex will probably help, and you could also try Canesten cream or Daktarin cream. Loose fitting cotton underwear may help, and some sites recommend washing underwear with non-biological washing powder or liquid.
If you're taking antibiotics for anything, or sleeping with a woman who has thrush, that could also be the cause.

That still looks like balanitis to me. If you've had it for over a month though, then I think I'd probably see a doctor to get it looked at, and maybe get oral medication. You could either see your GP, or if you're in the UK, you could go to a genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinic - google "GUM clinic near me" for details.
If you could update this thread and tell us what the doctors say, it would be appreciated. Good luck.

this looks a lot like what I'm going through. Its been freaking me out. Did your doctor test you for herpes? Even if you asked for a full std panel, clinics leave out herpes test unless you ask them for it.

No don't think they test for it. Wouldn't an outbreak show more as sores over the penis etc.
Been with my partner for 5 years and both never experienced any symptoms.

herpes doesn't have to have a typical look. It can look like a pimple and still be herpes. You should ask for a herpes test just to rule it out
