Redness, irritation and bumps on glans

Hey folks. I have posted here before. For the last six months i have been dealing with redness, irritation, and little bumps on the top of my glans. Been to regular doctor, urologist, and two derms. each one said it looked normal but i know it is not how my glans looked a few months ago and it keeps getting worse. I just went to the derm last week and he said it was dermatitis/eczema. he prescribed a topical steroid which im using starting tonight. i am also going to use aveeno eczema therapy lotion. i figured i would create a new post with a photo from tonight since it looked awful after the shower. I am hoping this new combo will work, only going to use the steroid for a few days. Hopefully it will work and maybe this can help someone else as well because i understand how depressing this can be.

Hey William
I know something like this can be very depressing but you are doing what you have to. Make sure you fellow the doctor so you can get rid of this.
Make sure you only use warm water when you wash and no soap. Pad dry do not rub.
Take care and good luck........Ken

Thanks for the kind words, Ken! It really is exhausting mentally whenever something like this happens in the genital area. But hopefully this clears up!

It is no problem. I know when something like this happen it effects our whole life. And you are taking care of it. Your a good man to deal with it. Having a good outlook will help
I real have never had any thing like that happy to me. I had bruises on my penis and over the last couple of months my circumcision line started to itch. At 63 this was the first time that happen. My urologist gave me some but it cost $68 did not have the money for it.
Went to walmart's and got Cortizone 10 Works well.
Well if you need to talk I'm here for you just PM me.
Take careKen

Hi, I use a steroid ointment regularly and have done so for almost 8 years. If you are only going to use this for a few days you are likely to gain no benefit from it at all. % or 6 weeks is the minimum I would suggest so that you can begin to tell whether it is having a beneficial impact or not. If you are restricting steroid use because you are using a really powerful one get the Derrm you have the best working relationship with to prescribe you one of lower strength so that you can use it every day for 3 or 4 months and see what happens.
I'm also not sure about using eczema lotion in combination as what you may simply get is one outdoes the other and you end up with little to no beneficial effect - in fact, what you may get is a set of complications that lead to severe dermatological reaction. So, be extremely cautious if the dermatologist has not directed you to use a combination of different treatments ......

Thank you, I have something that looks very similar too. Does your itch or anything?

It doesnt really itch. But its extremely sensitive and irritated. I have another follow up next week at the derm to see if it has gotten any better and i will definitely update since most folks tend to stop updating once things are resolved.

What does the dermatologist prescribed you? I also have the same case but haven't seen any doctor yet
.
I think I got from using harsh soaps and alcohol.

He prescribed a steroid cream which made it worse. Since then, I have been using tea tree oil and coconut oil (mixed together in the palm of my hand) and that has actually provided some relief. I also believe it could have been from harsh soap and also the different creams ive been prescribed . I am going to keep using the tto and coconut oil for a while and see if that gets it back to normal. I hope that answer helps!

Although different Men can have the same symptoms the actual cause of the symptoms can be entirely different. As William has said he was first given a steroid cream for as the dermatologist may have even mistaken what the cause was as only a few people are allergic to steroid creams or ointments. This is why it is important to get the correct diagnosis, but as in William's case, often it is trial and error to see what medication will deal with what is going on.
Often plant based extracts such as Coconut Oil or Aloe Vera Gel are very helpful in alleviating symptoms.
And yes, the most important factor is never to use soap or any other cleansing agents on the head and foreskin area of the penis - for those who are uncircumcised, always draw the foreskin as far forward away from the body when taking a shower, expose the penis head only once ALL cleansing agents have been thoroughly rinsed off and wash with the water only, pat completely dry with a towel immediately. You need to have this hygiene practice in place before finding the right medication to deal with the actual condition you have ...

I started with coconut oil too but found it didnt really improve just basically made it a little more comfortable.. I now use Bria organic oil, vary similar to coconut oil but figured I'd try it.. Currently waiting my appointment to the see urologist and which I believe will point me in the direction or a dermatologist..
Mine started about 1year half ago with my glans becoming dry like almost no natrural oil was being produced and I started getting alike cold feeling around the glans after showering, strange..
I now have these little bumps almost like fordyce spots on my glans like the natural is being blocked from lubricating my glans..
I will keep you updated with progress and try and get some pictures loaded up.

Sorry no update yet, my appointment with the urologist is Tuesday, a week today, I will update once I've seen them. Unfortunately no improvement still very much the same, the oil I use everyday just masks the issue to make the problem comfortable. I did stop using oil for 2 days just to see if any improvement, and again after the first day there were no natural oil/moisture was nonexistent, like I said before it's as if the natural oil is being blocked from lubricating my glans, hence the small bumps and irritated skin, I don't know why this has happened, It did all come about while going through an extremely stressful time in my life so I do believe some how that stress has played a part in this issue.. Again this is just my opinion but all will hopefully come clear once I've seen the urologist and dermatologist.
