Regrets ? Does this cross anyone's mind ???

Is it NORMAL to think three weeks in .. What the hell have I done ? I mean I don't regret it really but at this stage the benefits so do not outweigh a former state . I know it sounds churlish and impatient ... Just wondered if this is a normal phase .? I mean I was in pain before but this pain outweighs it by a ton .. Really wish I could bend and pick something up properly I am a useless patient and feel so frustrated ... Anyone relate to this ? Not really feeling sorry for myself more missing a state where I could walk and bend and was in pain sometimes ...hey ho !!!

Hell, yes!! The tkr is just ducky now...but I didn't learn the lesson because of the hard head I have...feeling just like you right now cause I just wish I could reach something after a TER.. total elbow replacement! The TKR was lonesome.

Hazel, Thank you for the giggle,

I guess everyone has different pain levels..I even 1 week after I had my hip replaced was so greatful! Even though I could walk properly without crutches for 2-3 weeks...my pre operation pain was horrible!! I couldn't even work an hour without ripping my hair out I was in that much pain!! Right after surgery that pain was gone!! Just pain from the incision!! I was always in pain always having a dull throbbing pain when off my feet and sharp and intense pain when standing for more then an hour!! Within 6 weeks I had no more pain!! At ALL!! So for me it was totally worth it!!

    Good luck!! Time WILL help

Ah poor Bobbi .. If you could not walk before ..

      You see I could ...

So hence my feelings but I was in pain .. Getting worse but I could walk and bend etc .

No if you read my original post it says I do not regret having it done , just did not expect this much pain after but going into week 4 the pain is getting better ... No pain no gain etc 😜

      Yes Hazel.

Week 4 felt I was getting there. Then got really awful groin pain ! You know it went as quickly as it came. Apparently it's muscle pull around the new hip joint.

Going into week 6. Energy levels rising. I can do most things unaided now. Getting back to tackling my own housework. Bit stiff after sitting a while but much improved looking back to week 3

Looking forward to my review on the 16th Nov. Hopefully can get back behind the wheel and back to work. Onwards and upwards girl. Best of luck. Xx

Oh I hope to follow suit Sandra. Attempted a bit of washing today and gave up .. So frustrating as can't put it in the machine properly and on my own today . Then I felt all over whelmed and sweaty and emotional so

Sat down with a cup of tea and turned the TV on instead !! X

😱 a bath ???? What in an actual bath tub ???? 😱 Please be careful lovie , I was told I wasn't able to have a bath .

Yes and me ... And the physio said don't do it again... But if ur sitting in a hot bath isn't that the same as a 90 degree Angle ? And if you lie in it isn't that the same as lying in bed ? I don't get it . I was very very careful and had help getting in and out and to be honest I instinctively felt that was what I needed .. And I feel a lot better for it . Relaxing in a hot lavender bath is something I do a lot and I was so careful ... And the pain and tense feeling gone immediately . That's my story anyway ... Never was good at maths and angles and logic !

Of course I don't advocate or encourage anyone else to do it .. It's my risk don't want to encourage anyone else

Hi Hazel. That was me as well. Told no over the bath shower for 6 weeks and lasted 4. Was very careful and had help. I was never any good at understanding what a 90 degree angle was either.

There was an interesting post on here yesterday. One person was saying that their consultant had said that 6 week restrictions were outdated and not necessary ! I'd not heard that one before. Said to do whatever you like as long as you feel able.

I had the horrible TEDS on for 4 weeks. Should have been 6.

I will be 6 weeks on Friday. Walked for an hour today then did a shop. No sticks. Still a bit stiff and sore when I first stand up but once I'm moving I'm fine.

So pleased you feel better after your lavender bath 👍😘xx
