So, if I may ask, what is prompting your return? Hopefully just to say hello, but if not...

This op knocked the stuffing out of me, and trusts me, I'm not wuss!!

Hair is still in shock, falling out/breaking off, so fringe is non existent.

Just started intence physio as muscles collapsed.

Still not sleeping properly, and woke up yesterday, in agony!!!!

I know these problems are unusual, according to surgeon, just would rather go back to this time last year!!!!!

      Rant over!!

Oh no, that's not so good.

I know what you mean about going back, I wish I could too, but there is no way back for me now thanks to the surgeon's work.

Is it the new hip that is playing up?

Joy, sorry to hear all of that. Feel free to rant, as I've done my share of ranting and don't want to feel alone! We are all affected in our own unique ways by THR. I thank my lucky stars every day that I am retired and don't have to return to work, or that I don't have small children or other strenuous obligations. It's been all I can do to take care of myself. I am 68 and had my THR seven months ago. Have a complication and now need another surgery. I am quietly freaking out about it.

Is there anything you've been doing that you can cut back on, to get more rest and give your body more healing power? I know that "intense physio" would have me in shut-down mode.

I work nights, looking after children, stairs are still the bain of my life now, going up!!

Whole thing has effected a knee that wasn't good before, now awaiting mri results, I do believe at 55, I'm falling to pieces! !!!

Joy, that sounds like HARD work, and intense physio, too! Wish you could slack off a bit while you heal. Many of us have had negative effects in our "good" legs when they get leaned on so hard after the operation on our "bad" legs. The whole reason I found out that I needed a THR in the first place was because I fell and hurt my knee (on good leg) a year ago, and I had to use the other leg to compensate, and then I discovered what bad shape that hip was in.

And after the THR, then I started getting pains in my ankle and knee on the other side as that side overcompensated. Everything is connected to everything else, and is affected when something goes wonky.

Hope they find out some answers from the MRI. I do think our bodies can't take the punishment they used to take as we age. Hope you find some relief!

Lol, our bodies have to work sooooo hard, maybe, as the generations have gone on, we have become weaker?

My grandparents worked relentlessly, until they died.

Maybe I am just a wuss,

They never complained, or were ever I'll! !

      Time for reflection, I think!!!

      lol Xx

You are NOT a wuss! Three of my 4 grandparents died when they were in their 40's and 50's and the 4th died when he was about 85. He had a number of physical problems. So, no, I don't think we are necessarily weaker than they were! It's possible, too, that you were protected from knowing about some of their illnesses.

But back to you, I hope you can find a way to slow down and really let yourself heal. Keep on venting, if you want!

Oh that is awful.  You have been unlucky..I mean I am not hundred percent but don't have to look after anyone except me...and I do think that non hippies have no real idea of how big this operation was...I didn't relaise ..and would support massively anyone I now knew was having the op.  Not to put any pre op hippies off.  Is today particulaly bad?  What help from medics are yu getting?

Keep your chin up..you have more to deal with than most.

I had same conversation with physio, he said he sees many people who say the same as me, stuffing knocked out.

He said no one knows , or understands the enormity of this op, unless had it.
