I tried the pumpkin seeds and eaten garlic every day for months...I've also gone up to the Hospital for Tropical Diseases In London to see a specialist for the last 8 months....All their treatment has not worked either. It always comes back! My husband or my two children have never had it and we dont have any pets....I keep a very clean house and im so careful with my hygiene...What can i do to get rid of these? Help Please.....Its driving me insane!

I'm not sure why my post was deleted Moderator? I included reference to a great book, so I have taken that out in case it was the problem and I've taken out reference to specific treatments, except the pharmaceutical one as I'll assume that's allowed?!! I have copied and pasted the rest of my reply. Moderator if you are going to delete can you please tell me why? I'd much appreciate that.

Hi anna196444 and all others to this post! I still have worms after 3 years of getting rid of them and getting them again. My theory that I have come up with through endless reading and personal experience, is that we all have some level of parasites in our bodies all the time, which is ok if it is in balance, in which case we never notice it. Certainly with sheep fecal egg count testing, you never get a worm count of zero, you are simply looking for a LOW fecal egg count (I forget the numbers!) For those of us that have the symptoms, perhaps our bodies are becoming more heavily infested due to emotional components and body acidity. I have noticed both times recently, I began to feel the familiar wriggles again AFTER I had just had an extremely stressful shouty mama day. I haven’t had worms in ages but I haven’t got that worked up in ages. The impact that our emotions have on our bodies is way more than we can ever appreciate. I have recently attended the ACEs research workshop which seems to be everywhere I look at the moment. People that have more than 4 Adverse Childhood Experiences (look it up) suffer chronic disease in later life. Although parasitic infestation isn’t listed that I’m aware of as one of them, perhaps it is? It would be interesting to know what everyone’s ACEs score is that are on this thread?

Certainly it is proven from the ACEs study and other research that stress causes inflammation in the body, which then has an affect on every single cell. Stress weakens immunity, so the gut is compromised making a perfect playground for parasites...

I would love to have a solution to threadworms. I have tried gut healing, pumpkin seeds, carrots, the parasite cleanse of cloves/ wormwood/ black walnut hull, DE for months and months (stopped symptoms but after 4 months of taking religiously they came back)...garlic...the HC Zapper thing...Ovex quite a few times (which have worked temporarily) I am now trying homeopathy as I remember a herbalist friend saying to me once that herbs are great to tackle physical components in dis-ease and homeopathy is better for the emotional components of dis-ease and it is not something I have tried yet.

My 5 yo has had them recently too at the same time as me. Again this seems to tie in with the emotional component, as children are more emotionally dependent / share some of the same emotions as their primary caregiver until around 7/8. My 8 yo hasn’t had them.

I am seeing a massage therapist/ craniosacral therapist to help with the emotional side of things, there is a lot of talk and physical release in my body when I go. Negative emotions get stored in the body too (as shown in ACEs study) and need released, something which no-one has mentioned yet in this thread (unless I’ve missed it!). Perhaps we need to start thinking outside the box. We all want to get rid of these damn beasties!!! I am hoping that in time when I have worked through enough emotional stuff and am in a strong place and I’m not having so much of the freaking out in angry mama mode, in turn, the threadworms will become but a distant memory...! There is hope! I’d be interested to know others thoughts (nicely!) wink

HI, yes im still suffering to...HAve had them for so many years now ive almost lost count!! Tried it all and Ovex works for the time being but they always come back. None of my family have had them, ever. Im happy and stress free and not emotional at all. I believe some have them and some don't. Or at least don't show any symptoms. Not sure where to go with this.....im just coming to terms this is for life...x

Hmmm well that throws my theory out the water then!! Well partly, as I definitely notice that I get symptoms more after an angry stressful spate in my life.. I guess then it is different for each person as to why. Perhaps we get symptoms more than others, or have different blood PH. It is just interesting that so many of us have them and can’t get rid of them! I just assume that I have them on some level permanently, which I can deal with....until I get the symptoms! It’s tough initially but I’m glad that at least i’ve come to terms with having them. Gosh I remember being so disgusted and horrified finding that first worm!! Don’t bat an eyelid now! Good to be able to share about something we can’t talk about in public anyway!! Xx

      Hi Anna

I'm starting to think I'm in the same boat as you after having them constantly return for the past three years. And it's only me who ever gets them. I've tried stupid amounts of ovex. Every time I've think I'm free from them then out of the blue i get that distinctive wriggling sensation and rush to the loo and find a worm !!! I had a colonoscopy in October and none where found then, i felt so relieved but then this January as I'm starting to relax about it, there's one bloody worm!!!! I feel like I'm going a little insane and i don't understand why this isn't a known issue?? Doctors insist the prescribed amount of ovex it enough but doses way above that don't fix the problem for lots of us. I'm trying to imagine how i will live with this issue as i don't feel it will ever end.

HI Laura, I feel your pain! Ive tried so much without luck. I take Ovex to, Lots of it....It clears and then comes back within 6-8 weeks normally. Only me and no one else....Doctors in Tropical Hospital London are baffled to. Say they have always cleared and helped sufferers when they have come in to see them. Makes me feel even more lonely! But as i can see on here, there is lots of us and im not alone! Not sure why some of us are more susceptible then others?? Anyway, take care and good luck!

Thank you Anna, it does help to know we aren't alone.

Can i just ask, when yours return do you see a worm or just feel symptoms or both?

HI, Ive had them for so long that nowadays i take a tablet when i feel the wriggling sensation....Sometimes the Ovex does not work first time around and a worm comes out on the second or third day so then i take another Ovex again. Occasionally im really feed up and think: Really, can I really have them again and almost doubt myself and i wait to see one comes out!!  Awful!

It is gutting when you feel one wriggling out isn't it!

The bowel specialist i saw at my local hospital said they don't wriggle and made we seem insane. Of course they wriggle, they are worms and I've watched one squirming about!!

Have you put yourself in ovex on a permanent basis now?

After you saw the specialist did they give you any advice ?

      Sorry for all the questions

I have seen enough worms coming out! I only take Ovex when i have them, trying only to take one tablet. Sometimes thats not enough so i have to take two tablets.

      The specialist say,

One day the will just go!

You must get reinfected as the tablets we have given you will kill all worms inside your body!

Are you sure you have followed the rutine of Washing bedding, not biting your nails, given the rest of the family Ovex to?

They aslo said, (when i told them its getting me down) do you want to have counselling?

I dont think they know/understand how many of us there are! I have said to the doctors up in London about this forum. There is lots of sufferers who cant get rid!

But i have not got an answer with a solution yet!

      Its endless!

Do you take two and wait two weeks and take another two?

They really don't get it do they!!!

It's frustrating when they think you don't take all the cleaning measures or dose the family, they don't realise we go above and beyond what is suggested. I'm currently on a low carb diet, wasting my money on ovex just to say it tried ( yet again) and cleaning everything, making sure my son is washed and clean , tight pants n PJ's to bed etc.... I'm so sick of it.

I wish there was some way to prove to these Doctors that there is something going terribly wrong with their so called cures for this problem for certain unlucky people!!!

I normally take one tablet when i have the symptoms. I dont take another one two weeks later. It has proven no point for me! Still get them back.

Can i ask how you ended up getting referred to the specialist in London?

My Doctor's are so skeptical of it all ,i can't imagine them even giving me that option.

I finally built up and went to my doctor. He prescribed me Ovex and told me to come back if it didnt cure it! I aslo did a sample test to see if there was any worms...Then when i came back to see him I said i was really upset and embarrassed about this, he said he would investigate more and get back to me. He then refer me to tropical in London as ive never heard of the hospital! Mind you, the doctors there could not help me either so.... They where very helpful to start with but after going to see them three times they where baffled to! Telling me one day! They will go....

Did your test come up positive?

I did a stool test but it was negative but a few weeks later, more worms!

Did you need to prove you had them?

I'm trying to imagine living with this forever and what impact it might have on my life !!

      It's quite scary

Ive done 4 tests in total. 3 of those came up negative! Even though i put one worm inside it. But they failed to see it.....

      Hi Pinkpanther

I was just wondering how frequently you get them coming back?

    • Posted

mine was exactly the same! To stool samples given now and they have both come back negative so I just seem like a nutcase to them. You can quite clearly see more than one and I purposely took out the section that had the most wormes in
