Revision knee replacement

hi, I am just over 9 weeks  post op and still on 2 crutches and finding the straighting very difficult. Still in a lot of pain which I'm sure is quite normal, but today I have gained a new violent sharp pain in my knee reducing me to tears my painkillers aren't touching the pain and walking is so painful no matter what I do I can't stop this nasty pain. Has this happened to anyone else ????

hi diane straightening problem is very hard its the hardest thing to get right but it only improves with hard work of stretching i have a problem with my straightening after my revision i never had this problem with my original tkr why i had revision was because of no bend now the bend improved not what i should have but enough to live with so after my revision i was soo obsessed with bending the knee i neglected the straightening my physio told me that sometimes with revision you can have problem with both bend and straightening where with primary tkr its usualy one or the other or if your lucky neither .so like you i have to really put work into straightening everyone here will tell you straightenng is hard work it will leave you with a limp if you dont work at it and when you dont have a striaght leg it causes alot of pain  behind the knee even the knee itself or down the side of the leg its very tiring im 12mth post op and im still trying to work at it i must say the last 8wks ive not done as much stretching as i should and it shows i know when im walking that ive a slight limp and i hate it im playing in a competition this week so ive been practicing for it and have not paid enough attensoin to my straightening so hopefully we win and next week back to stretching it  you are only nine wks so yours would probably straighten over thenext few weeks with work mine may never but il keep stretching it as OFG says ice it rest it but also stretch it if it dose not settle contact the hospital im sure they would call you in to check it out and put your mind at ease revision in my point of view dose take longer to get over than the primary tkr

Sounds like an inflammation. Is your temperature normal?

      Another message from me Diane!

Glad to hear the nasty pain has gone. I agree it can be scary and isolating to be in pain especially if the pain is new.
