REZUM--HAVE YOU HAD THIS DONE???????

Posted , 385 users are following.

I had a nice conversation today with the President of the "Urology Times". He was telling me that there is a "New Procedure" that has been approved called the "REZUM SYSTEM".  The company that makes the system is called "NXThera, Inc".  You can google them up and lots of stuff comes up.  I called them for a referral and they gave me a Doctor in Minnepolis that has done it over 50 times now.  I called his nurse and she said he would call me back and answer my questions on monday.  As you guys probably know Doctors are not very good at returning calls but we'll see what happens.  Iam not very good at explaining how the procedure works but basically they take the device and put it up the uretha and vaporize the prostate cells which kills them.  It works with high pressure "steam" that at a certain degree will kill the prostate tissue.  My question for you guys is there anybody out there that has had it done to them and how are you getting along and are there "side effects", etc etc?????

Had this 4 weeks ago. 1 week catheter. Procedure wasn't too bad. Not a walk in the park but bearable. I had a back injection freezing. I passed out after the procedure though? After the 1 week catheter everything seemed ok but then the trouble started. I started having pain while urinating. Started to become constipated. It gradually got worse to the point where my penis started to hurt and if felt like a strong burning when trying to urinate. I say try because only drops or a short stream would come out. The Dr gave me an antibiotic. after 4 more days 0 improvement he directed me to emerg to have an catheter put back in for another 7 to 10 days. I'm glad I went I was at a point of unbearable pain. Now day 2 with catheter again. I am up 2 times a night with pain and urge to urinate? light blood comes out and pain goes away. There is a small amount of blood also around the catheter? I'm hoping this resolves soon. So far I can't say this has been worth the time money or pain. Time will tell. Anyone else with an issue similar to this?

I feel sorry for what you are going through. I hope you heal fast. It has taking some of the men on this site that have had the procedure up to a year.

      Good luck...Ken

For me, Foley for one week, out for one day, I ended up in ER to get another Foley. Repeat the same story foe the next week. After that, they left the Foley in for 6 weeks. Took it out. Put it back in again for two weeks. In total, I had the foley for about 3 months (minus the few hours it was out a couple of times before I went to ER). Finally, no Foley but I still can't empty. But I believe it's because of a neurogenic bladder. I highly recommend you try Turmeric. I truly believe it's helped me pee better or maybe it took away the pain. Worked for me a couple of different times.

      I'm 55, healthy otherwise.

I had a Rezum procedure under general anesthetic 24 hours ago. The catheter will be removed in 2 weeks.

As my prostate is 83 cc I was given 15 shots. It is more than usual but I have no pain. I didn’t use any painkillers after returning home.

Just wondering if anyone had the same pain-free experience?

      Good luck

I hope you do not end up with retro ejaculation. I know someone else that had 15 but there prostate was 150 cc. For 83 cc I think that was to much. He did not get retro but his doctor told him that she saw the ejaculatory duct and was not going to go near them.

It also took him some time to heal. We have had men on here that did not see any improvement for up to a year and that was with medication and doing CIC.

Please let me know what is going on in about a month. I have you on my list You will be number 109. Been doing this for over 4 years. 83 ended up with retro

      Good luck my friend. Ken

Thanks, I definitely let you know . Hopefully I'll miss this side effect. Six years ago I had UroLift and it worked for me for nearly four years. Last two years on Tamsulosin + 5mg Tadalafil and CIC nighttime only.

      Take care mate.

      Hey Buddy

I had the Urolift over 7 years ago. Still open. But 3 years ago my doctor found out I had a tight internal sphincter. I take Vesicare 10 mg. Works great. If I forget to take it I can tell the difference. Stream is slow.

In a few years if I have to have another thing done I will have a few more clips put in. At 65 I do not want anything to change. I'm not giving up anything.

Good luck. I hope the doctor did not mess you upKen

I forgot to tell you that over the last 4 years there were 10 men that had to have a Turp done to fix the damage that Rezum did to the prostate tissue

      Hi Andrei!

Please don't believe one single word of Kenneth19... He uses to write fake stats aboutI Rezum (his stats!!) .

I did Rezum one month ago in Germany,: I had 6 injections although my prostate is only 25 cc.

I'm 50 with no health issues.

I'm starting to feel better but it's still too early to tell. It's my third operation after PAE. - no side effects at all- and Aquabeam - partial retro ejaculation as side effect with small improvement.

If Rezum works for me - and I hope it will - then anyone should try it!!!

      Keep us informed.

      Best regards.

      Hey There

Rezum does not work for everyone. All the stats have been taking off this site. They have been counted from men over the last 4 years.

It is a shame that you are on your 3rd procedure. Are you sure your prostate is your problem

I hope it works for you

Unusual as it may seem to have a woman speak out, I am because my 63yo healthy husband won't. I can find very little in my research that says much about failures, but I am living with one first hand. My poor husband was told by his urologist that he was a 'perfect' candidate for REZUM. Prior to procedure he had frequency at night and slow flow/difficulty going. After taking oral meds (flomax) for some time, he decided to pursue treatment. After his outpatient procedure he wore a catheter for 3 days, which I believe is normal, and he had all the symptoms we expected: blood in urine, small clots passed, some pain and discomfort, etc. But what he didn't expect is that at 13 weeks out he is miserable. As if peeing every hour at night isn't enough, he pees more than that throughout the day, too, with pain every time!! And, when he has the first urge, if he's not already at the urinal, he pees all over himself. He is completely incontinent. It's horrible and has completely robbed him of quality of life. Everywhere we go now the first stop is to locate the bathroom. Now the urologist wants to go back and do a cystoscopy "look see". We are praying this isn't permanent, but it's not looking good. I'm angry and sad. You can damned well believe I will be in that appointment on Monday with him. Take your time, do your homework and get a second opinion. At least as much as you can. Look for scholarly articles and stay away from .com data. Most of it is influenced by the manufacturer themselves! Here is one I found from NIH: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7772175/ My husband is clearly a one-off, but had we known ...

      Susan

I'm so sorry that has happen to your husband. Was this the only doctor that he saw and did he get a second opinion.

Rezum is a very bad procedure. It take a long time to heal if it does work. Some men it has taking a year and they still are on medication and CIC. You have to remember that some doctors are like car sale men. All they try to do is sell the procedure and the more they do the more they make.

I have been on here for over 8 years and I have kept track of the Rezum procedure. Out of the 108 that had it done in the last 4 years it as only helped 45% of the men and out of the 108 You have had 78 ended up with retro. Which they do not even talk about.

I hope he gets better. You need to see a different urologist. I would not even bother with the one that did this to him. If he is having a lot of inflammation have him take a hot bath for 20 minutes this will help.

Thank you for taking care of him. Not many do....Ken

You are a good wife and he is very lucky to have you by his side. Please have him try Turmeric pills. I believe it helped me with the pain on a couple of different occasions. Get the highest dose you can find on Amazon.

Count me as another case of someone who has been suffering since having the Rezūm procedure. Not only have I experienced retroejaculation, but the pain that has come through urination and the frequency in which I have to urinate is horrible. The moment I feel that I need to get to the restroom it hurts incredibly until I'm able to release and then its a different kind of pain when I do on a different level. Are there any class action suits being organized?

So sorry I had high hope as well and my Urologist is very good. He saved my kidney from cancer using the DeVincy robot. I was very impressed and happy! I figured this would be a piece of cake for him. I can still have sex but I no longer have ejaculation pressure and the erections and be iffy and go away if not prompt!

hi ken, i'm new here. Given your time on the site, is there any insight you can give on other treatments based on posts you've seen over the years? I've been reading a lot of posts on rezum and must admit i'm a bit concerned. I'm now leaning towards aquablation. I had HIFU two years ago for prostate cancer and while the surgery itself i only experienced pain the first night, I had similar experiences to others here from their procedures regarding catheter usage, urgency, blood in urine/semen, etc for a few months after so no surprise for me there. ty!
