Rib Cage Tightness anxiety symptom

I knew I had anxiety before but I'm having symptoms I've never had before and didn't know it was from anxiety until I did research. I have had a knot that hurt come up along my spine in my lower back which I had a long time ago and had it checked out and it was just a muscle knot. It subsided eventually. I've been stressed out over personal issues lately and noticed it came back but not on there but another area of my spine and one on 2 ribs on each side of my chest that bugged me when I'd try to sleep on my stomach . Then a couple days ago I did get extra stressed and all of a sudden I had horrible pressure and a tingling sensation in my lower ribs on both sides that hurt. So I start getting scared and it got worse. It would get better sometimes and then worse again. I've been researching trying to get an idea what this could be. I came across a few possibilities but Rib Cage Tightness Anxiety Symptoms fits what I have perfectly. Has anyone else had this symptom of anxiety?

I tell you, I'm glad I posted this topic and see I'm not the only one with the ribs issues from anxiety and I've enjoyed everyone's humor. Iris, no wonder you're so stressed! You've been through so much. God bless you!

I completely understand! It's like a curse. Even when you're doing something enjoyable, the uneasiness and the symptoms are always there. Glad you got out with them. It's better than being all alone feeling like that. It only makes it worse.

The psychiatrist gave me something that has helped tremendously. I keep hear from some on these posts that I shouldn't because it is addictive. But right now I don't care, I'm almost 60 and don't care if I have to take it my whole life.
Clonaxepam - 5mg once everyday and maybe every two days has rescued me!!
I am also on Citalopram 30mg.
I had a Stent put in my heart in Feb and developed anxiety after that, terrible attacks
BP 171/108 etc.
Now I am calm have lost 20 pounds ( thatI needed to) took all sugar and stimulants out of my diet and started exercise.
My last malody is the ribs!!!

No it's not just you! Agitation is a curse of anxiety and frustration because we have to contend with it in the first place.

Please don't fear medication. I've been on and off it for years and when I came off I never had a problem with addiction. I stopped cold but some patients do need to taper off..but my research has assured me the addiction is more emotional as opposed to physical. The fear of being without the "crutch" allows anxiety symptoms to rush back in...and I do personally believe some people, through no fault of their own, have addictive personalities.
Having said that, were my own personality such, it would not stop me from taking my setraline50mg. And like you, if I have to take it for the rest of my life then so be it
