Rib pain

is rib pain a common symptom of menopause? I've had this on and off over the past couple of years - I've had two chest X-rays showing nothing. This last week it's been pretty painful specially when lying down - does anyone suffer from this?

Hey Sophie, I know your reply was over year ago, however, I think this is extremely common. I have had this for well over 10 years, but I also have fibromyalgia. I’m not sure if you’re still getting notifications on this, but do you have fibromyalgia ? I do and my worst rib pain is at the top of my ribs. If you wear underwire bras, I would stop doing that immediately, they bruise our rib cage and cause scar tissue in our breasts. I use a heating pad and liquid gel Advil’s for the pain. I also use peppermint essential oil, topically. Mine has been especially bad the last week. Sometimes I wonder if it’s food allergies, specifically gluten. Hope this note finds you doing well 😃

Hi
I have rib pain directly under my right boob right where by bra lies. On the breast bone/top of rib cage. It comes and goes and can sometimes ache at the back of my rib cage too.
Some days its so bad i cannot wait to unhook my bra on the way home from work in the car!

Hey Niki, Do you wear underwire bras, they are the worst, they bruise the rib cage and cause scar tissue in the breast . Try using gel ice packs on the area or a heating pad or alternate. I also use a product which is excellent calles STOP PAIN, you can get it at any pharmacy, Walmart, Walgreens, CVS ETC.... Within the last week I started using CBD oil and it’s awesome, but you have to get it by MEDTERRA, it’s the purest form, there are many fake ones out there, MEDTERRA is the best! it has also helped with racing thoughts, anxiety, fibromyalgia, but I want to stress, you may have to experiment to get the dosage right , turns out I have to use it three times a day. A teardropper full at waking, middle of the day and before bed. After I started using it and I got the dosage that I needed figure it out, because everybody’s different, I found myself having much better days and I thought wow this is terrific what have I done differently. The CBD oil is what I have done differently, it is good for almost any ailment including menopause. I also noticed the rib pain stopped after using it. I think we have food allergies, as gluten is poison and I think a combination of underwire bras or bras in general and poor food choices cause it along with hormonal fluctuation. Hormonal fluctuation is it any and every age.

Hello Lisa, Digestive issues are a major part of PERI/menopause. Do you take a good probiotic, if you start to take the probiotic and also the supplement milk thistle, it may help greatly. Also the issues with the rib cage, there are many variations of this pain. I had that feeling as well when all this started. I don’t know why on earth or how our hormones can affect our rib cage, but it does greatly. What is even more concerning, is, these idiot doctors have no explanation for any of these crazy symptoms. If you wear underwire bras try to stop wearing them immediately, they actually can cause scar tissue and are part of the problem. Also do you have your gallbladder, that is also a common problem at this time, gall bladder issues.

i have my gall bladder but about five years whilst getting an xray i was told i had the start of gallstones and they were only the size of a grain of sand . I am really concerned as this pain especially under my right rib cage has not gone away in over a week

Lisa… That definitely sounds like your gallbladder, that is the quintessential symptom of gallbladder issues. I used to have that really bad under the right breast, it used to drive me nuts Does it also reach around, to your right side, under your right arm pit and feel like someone’s jabbing you with a butter knife, and go around to your back. I had my gallbladder removed and believe me, that is one of the main symptoms. Don’t be scared, see if you can get a HIDA scan, that is the true test of the gallbladder function. However I had many bad doctors for like 10 yrs basically not give a sh** and misdiagnosed. Even after I have a HIDA scan they didn’t want to remove it. By the time it was removed the doctor, who was excellent, said he had no idea how I was living with that much pain and that my gallbladder was shredded. Gallbladder issues are extremely common during Peri/menopause if not a chronic issue.

Lisa.... Try using a heating pad, that used to relieve the pain for me. Are you able to have your doctor order a HIDA scan? Try not to let it get you down, also I would drink Dandelion tea and that would help. I would love to see actual statistics of how many women had to have their gallbladders removed because of PERI/menopause, but there’s no way to gauge that, because these doctors don’t know what the hell they’re doing!!! hang in there, it will work out 😉

I am 49 , and yes I have the rib pain and the gas. I was glad to find this site and see I am not the only one with these issues. I am wondering now if it is because of taking a birthcontrol mini pill called camilla. ?

I notice I am getting this more often with indigestion. I am 49. It is odd and I am going to go to a gastrointologist to check it out. I was wondering if it were related to menopause or taking the partial birthcontrol pill camilla

Hey Kelly, The indigestion is FOR REAL, it comes in bouts. And at times, will disappear, but usually is replaced with yet another symptom. The past few days I’ve had it terrible, and then it will disappear again for months or longer. But I’ve been wearing underwear bras again and that does not help, underwire bras are the enemy for rib pain, indigestion or the gallbladder. I've never heard of that pill called Camilla?
