Rib pain

is rib pain a common symptom of menopause?  I've had this on and off over the past couple of years - I've had two chest X-rays showing nothing.  This last week it's been pretty painful specially when lying down - does anyone suffer from this?

I have been having this odd discomfort in my right hand side (under my ribs) too for a couple of weeks. I am also suffering with bloating and indigestion symptoms too - feeling like I need to burp a lot. And my bowels are very temperamental.

I suffer with health anxiety so this bout of symptoms has added to my worries . I feel very low and tearful but reading these posts help me feel less alone.

You are not alone. Don't worry. Many are experiencing this and it brings some comfort to know we aren't. Thanks everyone for sharing.

Rib pain was one of my first symptoms, I didnt even know about perimenopause yet. I was diagnosed with costochondritis and it disappeared for quite a while but will reappear of I do anything to strain my chest or often a few days before my period. The best thing to do for it is stretch inside a door frame. open up your arms straight out, grab the frame and lunge forward. hold for a few seconds, repeat a few times. Also, massage a tennis or lacrose ball into your back by lying on it pressing the ball directly behind the sore rib.

I have had rib pain for 4 months. started left side but now seems to be spreading to the right side too. Really getting me down and i feel like my GP must be getting so fed up of my almost weekly calls. Perimenopause seems to be dishing out every conceivable torture to me 😦

Same with mine. He thankfully will listen to a few issues but eventually says he has to go and yet I haven't described all of the things like many of you are going through that go unexplained but so painful and uncomfortable for us. I started taking Dim and Detox by Pure as I've read reviews it can balance hormones and detox the liver of extra estrogen. Haven't noticed a change yet, but was told it will take a few weeks.

I am experiencing the same issues. it started last June 2020. I thought it was bc I slept in a twisted position since my cat hopped up in the bed next to me and that's how I ended up. wouldn't go away for 3 months. I had also been working from home and working on the couch so that could be a contributor too. after it didn't go away for 3 months I went to doctor and had my vit d levels checked. they were at a 21 which is almost deficient. I tool vit d and sunbathed and felt incredibly better in 2 weeks. it seemed to be going away. I started working out more often in Dec and jan 2021 but right after my period in Jan 2021 it ramped up/flared up. I have a moving pain that's sometimes on the right sometimes on left. sometimes right below the ribs in the waist side area, sometimes up higher and front centered, and sometimes on on side at the top back of my ribs. i also have brief bouts of indigestion which I never used to get. I also have a weird scalp pain spot on the right side of my scalp that began in July 2020 that comes and goes as well as odd tingling off and on in my fingers and toes. maybe it's fibromyalgia combined with early Peri?

I have these things too. age 51 perimenopause. It's so scary. I try to explain to others but I'm starting to sound like a hypochondriac!

costochondritis. its terrifying but it was a perimenopausal symptom of mine 2 yrs ago. lasted for many months then magically disappeared. have had a tiny flare up recently right before my period then it went away again. now my wrist is inflamed. all these dumb things flare up, terrify, and then mysteriously disappear! im unlucky to be in the u.s. because health care here is awful. i pay for my own health insurance then still pay 100% of doc bills, so everytime a new symptom of menopause appears it costs a small fortune for them to tell me im fine. i guess i should ba thankful i dont have a major thing wrong-/ that would bankrupt me! sorry. thats a big tangent to say that this peri/menopause stuff will make you a hypochondriac.

I've had the same. Tenderness and pain off and on. Also had xrays and nothing. Dr thought might be muscular like the q-l.

I had a massage therapist do some stomach and rib work because of it and she said she feels my diaphragm on the left pushed up under my rib probably from pregnancy so the right side might be compensating so tender. Frustrating when no one can provide some answers or relief!

This started when menopause hit. Had one summer with one drink a day for a couple of weeks, and then I quit. Totally. After just a small amount of alcohol now, I get this dull ache around my ribs, that comes around every ten minutes or so and lasts a few seconds. Feels muscular, but it eases up a bit with anti acids. Im generally under a lot of stress, and my muscles are tight almost all over.
