Hi Jeanette:
Yes, had right hip done in May and Left hip done in August. I am so happy. Could barely walk or function for 18 months prior and am back to my old self and walking normal again. I don't regret it one bit and even though recovery takes time it is well worth it. Wishing you well....Barb

hi jeanette,
oh dear ... sorry you this way about our forum ... responses hopefully showed you that the majority is very positive -
I don't know why or how you found thisforum - I did when I was looking for an explanation why I had groin pain 3 weeks post-op 1st THR -- I could't ask anybody around me, so went on the internet - stumbled on this forum and they have carried me through my 2nd THR with their unconitional support , tips, sense of humour ...
Of course there are some issues - especially in the first 2 weeks-
but to know that you can come to a safe place where people totally understand you, and get you, that is priceless darling ....
you are not alone anymore
when is your surgery date ????
big warm hug
renee

Jeanette - I'm almost sure you would not be facing hip surgery unless you were already in a lot of pain from a worn out hip joint.
Here on this forum we share our good stories, our fears, pain, lack of sleep, and even our not so good stories, sometimes this is the only place that will listen to those very fears, as many of use don;t have family support or a shoulder to cry on, this forum has become our family.
I have had a double hip replacement, would I do it again, YES YES YES, I can now walk without being in agony, I can go shopping at the supermarket, which I could not do do previoulsy.

I had mine at 51. you know when you're ready and it sounds like you are. any discomfort and frustrations after will be better than what you have now . go forward with confidence. I wish I would've done more post surgery exercises prior to but sometimes there is no time

Jeanette, unfortunately you will get stories that recovery has gone well and others not. Even though I had lots of muscle pain post op. The pain in my leg and groin was gone. I was 56 when I had mine done. Yes it was tough for me afterwards but I have never regretted having it done. 13 months on it's like I never had one. People are shocked when I tell them Ihave had a hip replacement as I walk so well. Took me 6 months to feel well again but we all heal differently. Good luck with the surgery x
