Right sided pain mono?

Posted , 9 users are following.

Recently I have right sided pain under the ribs. It’s kind of sore pain. Don’t know if it’s my gallbladder or the gut. I have slight nausea, diarrhea and a bit heartburn.

Anyone had something similar during mono?

I’ve had pain under my left rib cage which is where your spleen is located and is very common to have this pain with mono! I’m not sure however about the right side pain!? I’m in month 10 and have had pain there in and off the whole time!!

I know that with mono you have spleen and liver pain. Mine is in the upper side just under the right breast. And the diarrhea together concerns me. I am scared this would be my gallbladder. I had issues years ago where I'd vomit every week.

Hey, I had pain there too, with mono your spleen enlarges, and that caused my gallbladder to deform. It went away after about 11 months.

My gallbladder is inclined towards my stomach since birth, the ultrasound specialist told me years ago. Glad that you got better, so there's hope..

Well I would definitely ask your Dr if you are

Concerned!!  I saw an internal medicine dr as I was still worried about my symptoms which she assured me was all normal but also ran more tests and found that my b12 level was very low and causing some more symptoms so I’ve been taking supplements for about a month and have to go back in June to get retested for b12 levels!! Up until seeing her all the other Drs thought I was crazy!! Listen to your body and  see a dr that will listen to you and take your concerns seriously!!!

I was just thinking about making another appointment with my internalist. The thing is that I even don't know if I have mono or not. Do have  a diagnosis? if yes which month are you in?

Hi Christine, I have had Constant pain under right rib from the onset of EBV..I also feel bloated most of the time and was nauseous in the beginning but that part went away..I had an ultrasound of my gallbladder and it came back normal and the doctor said it was most likely related to ebv and to drink lots of water..i have drank tons throughout and has not helped..so it could just be sluggish gallbladder? But if pain gets severe probably shud see doc in case something like stones, etc..Hope you feel better soon..xo

Oh this EBV, it creates havoc in the body. I had only stomach pain at the beginning, last year, with terrible nausea. Now it's just annoying pain, sore pain feeling, I also think it might be my intestine as I have diarrhea too, slightly nauseous.

Anyways thank you for reassurance, I have had so many symptoms so far. It's been a year, I can;t believe.

    Hi Christine,

Sorry to hear you've having this pain, really hoping it settles soon. I had upper abdomin pain during mono, I think it was from the glands though, I know particulary they say the left side I think can be affected because of the spleen, but I think that whole area is full of glands so it could be from that. Of course always worth checking with the doc and hoping it settles and it is not something that bothers you for long.

Hi Craig, I had spleen pain in the beginning. I felt as if it was enlarged, but the ultrasound didn't show anything, so strange. And the doctors checked my abdomen nothing. But I am sure it felt enlarged and moderately painful. I don't know if the longitude of all these symptoms can do permanent harm to my health. I have no idea how I am going to recover if my tonsils are so enlarged, the ENT said they will never go back again.

      Thanks

Thinking about you Christine, it's so hard when you feel so helpless towards things. I know the feeling too have been going through it myself lately for prostatitis and back pain. Hope is so important we need to hold onto that, really hoping things improve and God has mercy and touches our bodies and brings healing.

      Craig
