Right sided pain mono?
Posted , 9 users are following.
Recently I have right sided pain under the ribs. It’s kind of sore pain. Don’t know if it’s my gallbladder or the gut. I have slight nausea, diarrhea and a bit heartburn.
Anyone had something similar during mono?

Hi Kelly,
I think you would definitely know if it was a spleen rupture as it would be a medical emergency, I often had pain in that area too which I think is normal because the glands are located in there. I think in the early stages of mono the spleen can be slightly enlarged in some people (not all or even most) which is why the docs advice just to be careful with physical activity and to not do anything too strenuous.
But it's most likely to be the glands causing problems in that area which it did with me, which does pass over in time!

Over the past 7 months I haven’t been doing much and taking it easy. We arrived in Venice yesterday and been walking, sight seeing etc! So now I’m super paranoid something is going on inside!
Going to take it easy tonight. Hopefully it’s not so uncomfortable by the morning.
I hate all of this. I panic over everything ☹️

I hope you have a lovely time in Venice too Christine, it's very understandable to feel how you do, it's a normal reaction and I was exactly the same when I was going through the virus.
Really hoping these pains subside and hang in there!

Yep, I’ve had that not from the start but probably 3-4 months in. I’m at a year and I’ve had sooo many tests etc. I thought it was easing but it’s just come back full force. I think this is the crash I’ve been dreading. Im concerned as to why it hurts so much and docs can’t find much. I know it’s given me gastritis and a hiatus hernia so maybe that’s it?! Have you had an endoscope? I’m fed up with being too ill to even drive 😢

HI Ashley,
Goodness you have been through such a terrible time by the sounds of it. It is totally understandable you would feel so fed up and down - just want to say that remember there is always hope because of God, you ARE going to get better Ashley I still believe that even though I know it must not seem like it at times.
Sometimes in my hardest times when I've found it hard to believe things will improve for myself, it's helped me when someone else says they believe it for me - it kind of takes a bit of strain away. Want you to know Ashley I'm believing 100% for your recovery still, just hang in there and take things one day at a time and just trusting God to bring healing.
Thinking of you and really hoping (and believing) things will stabilise and improve soon.

I’ve had Ebv for about 13 months now. Starting to feel a little clearer in my head but the pain under my rib is getting worse it goes around to my back now and I can only ease it slightly be laying on my back. I had lots of tests and scans 6 months ago and all they found was a slightly enlarged liver which has over the last couple of months returned to within range. Sometimes it hurts so bad it feels like I’m dying! I didn’t know if this is something you have heard of after this period of time with your extensive knowledge? Thanks Ashley

Hi Ashley,
It is nice to see a message from you, goodness you have been through such a tough time words can't describe it I know. So sorry that you're having this terrible problem around your rib area, it sounds awful to have such pain, pain is an awful thing is really is and really thinking about you and hoping this eases real soon.
Well I definitely wouldn't say my knowledge is extensive Ashley, all I really know is what I've read on the forums here and my own experience of going through it. It does seem that these horrible symptoms and aches and pains can go on longer for some people than others unfortunately, but I still truly believe you are going to get better Ashley - really hoping and praying that this eases soon and this a real breakthrough is on its way. Do keep checking in with the doctors I know it's tiring and frustrating especially when not getting far with it - really know that feeling, it can be so hard and discouraging and frightening.
Hang in there Ashley and trusting God knows why this is happening and that He is going to pull through for you and bring complete recovery - I do believe that.
