Ritalin CFS

Hey, 11 months into my CFS. Just wanted to know if anyone has tried low dose ritalin to ease the fatigue and brain fog ? It's basically following pu on the info i posted about the Synergy trial. My GP is fully on board with this idea. Lord knows days like today i could use a little pick me up.

'A pilot trial combining  low-dose Ritalin and mitochondrial and immune enhancing supplements, however, found that over 70% of patients received ‘clinically significant’ benefits from the drug. Some participants in the trial were able to return to work.  A double-blinded, placebo controlled trial  called the Synergy trial is under way.'

I don't do drugs. They always have had a bad effect on me in the past.

I deal with FM and my good friend ME.....we both keep DRibose for more energy pick up. I personally avoid all those drugs, as does she.....she was taken a low dose lorazepam to help with sleep and found the conneciton of benzos and alzheimers, so she worked off the benzo.

For the ME she deals with she's about convinced it's mercury...and now working with her chiro on some mercury detox again....he's giving her a homeopathic mercury eliminate remedy too.

Hello David I am currently on adderall for my cfs. I just started last week. 1st day I felt so amazing it felt like I was normal again. That was on 10mg. And after a week I can move up to 20. But the 2nd day I did not have the normal feeling anymore. Although, it still helped with the brain fog and I am able to focus it stopped working with extreme fatigue. Against what my Dr prescribed day 2 didn't feelike the normal feeling like day 1 I took a second pill at 10 because the fatigue came back. It helped and got me through the work day. Day 3 I took 2 and no effect except being able to maintain focus but not as good. Hopefully a different form of adderall will help as I am currently on xr or try ritalin.

    Hi David,

I started on ritalin almost a year ago now and i have personally found it very very helpful concentration wise. I still have my moments but by far overall it has immensely improved things for me.

    Hi All

    Here's my two cents worth.

I was diagnosed with CFS officially last year after the all too common frustrating period of tests and medical ignorance about the condition.

As soon as I was officially diagnosed my specialist put me on Endep (amitriptyline) to help with my sleep and after a while he put me on Ritalin. You get funny looks when your picking up your prescription as one drug helps you sleep and the other wakes you up. Anyway I have felt that both have helped with the condition and allow me to go about my day of work and socialise normally. The drugs don't cure the symptoms only mask them, the symptoms are always lurking around waiting for me to over do it, which is common when you take the Ritalin.

I would recommend taking Ritalin in conjunction with employing your other management techniques.

As an aside I try and meditate twice a day and find this extremely effective for CFS and in other areas of my life.

    Good luck to you all.

    Cheers.

    I forgot to mention.

I live in Melbourne Australia, so your experience may differ with the doctors in your country.
