Dear Ashley73242, our resident GP has had a look at your query and written an article looking into whether semen can cause a vagina to smell bad after sex.
Take a look: https://patient.info/health/vaginal-discharge-female-discharge/features/can-semen-cause-vaginal-odour

The only thing I've found online was that it could have to do with my partners diet. It was weird one week when they supposedly ate healthy I didn't smell anything. Idk but it's driving me insane

Actually you are wrong Andrew. After a male ejaculates in a female it DOES have an odor. And it will for a couple days even after you washed properly. And it may even feel as though it is still dripping out. Please don't let him tell you that you may have a care risk infection or a disease.

The same would go for you when you are preparing to have sex and on a daily basis keeping your vulva clear with an anti-bacteria type soap/gel.
Is he pentrating you without a condom, and the ejacuate is still running our with an odour. If he using a condom, is the same one each time. It could be that part of the condom has collapsed and trapped in the vagina, and is decomposing.
The next question would be how long is it since you started having unprotected sex?
This may sound odd, but if an old condom had split or come off during withdrawl and it had not been noticed, that could still be sitting in the vaginal tract/Bith canal and decomposing.
If that is the case you need to get to see a doctor as soon as possible because you are leaving yourself open to septicemia. Also your boyfriends ejaculate is the substance causing the odour, then he needs to see a doctor quickly as there could be issues with his prostate gland.
What is going through my mind is whether his prostate gland is losing its effieciency by not closinging down the urethra which allows urine to pass through, but not semen.
In theory the Prostate Gland is there to stop urine and ejaculate to be expelled at the same time. If the gland is not working properly then it may be that is exactly what is happening and both urea and semen are being introduced at the same time. Again in theory this should not happen, but doesn't mean it can't.
Does the ejaculate that falls our of the vaginal tract smell of Ammonia?
If that is the case it would be an indicator that there is something more serious going on. Both of you need to see a specialist in sexual conditions and symptons so that tests can be taken.
I know this sounds a bit crude, but if you could catch some of the ejaculate that flows out of yourvagina in to a small, sealed bottle about the size of a test tube; and get your partner to withdraw as soon as possibe after the initial ejacualtion. If he can capture the remaining semen which is still being pushed out through the glans of the penis, in again a test-tube type of arrangement which an be sealed that would be helpful.
Make an appointment for both of you to see a doctor at the same time and ask if he can get the ejaculate in both samples analysed as that may provide an answer.
Either way you need to see a doctor sooner rather than later.

And it doesn't smell like ammonia. I can't really describe it.. It's different than anything I've even smelled before. It doesn't have the fishy smell. So I have no idea what it can be

What might the Ammonia smell indicate?

You say you are positive it isn't BV, but the only way you can be sure is if you have had a swab tested. BV wont always smell exactly the same, so you can't rely simply on past smells if you get my drift.
Are you active? Or at least sitting upright for a lot of the day? I am just trying to figure out why the ejaculate is 'staying inside' for so long (if it is the ejaculate which it might not be) and wondered if you spent a lot of time laying flat so it doesn't have much chance to come out?
In the mean time, perhaps using a condom is a good idea. It means no ejaculate can get left inside and may help show what the smell is really coming from.
I know a poor diet can make semen taste bad, but it shouldn't cause the type of odour you are describing.
Anyway there is obviously a problem somewhere along the line so a chat with your doctor is your best bet. x

What's coming out of me looks like cum, and it only smells after a few days and it leaking out. And I'm sure it's from sex because it happens no other time. We stopped having sex to see if that's what it was, and it doesn't happen unless he ejaculates in me

All I can reiterate is that you need to go to your GP. x

But yes I will most definitely let you know what the doctor says.
When I had BV in the past it was recurrent. I took the orange pill to cure it and it didn't work, but the metronidazole gel and that worked great!

If you were to google Itching and cottage cheese discharge thrush would no doubt be the first thing to come up, that's the only reason I mentioned it.
It could be that you are allergic to your partners semen. The doctor will be able to run all the appropriate tests, so no doubt you will find out what is wrong soon.
It might be worth seeing if the same thing happens if you have sex using a condom.
Anyway, good luck with the doctor and please do let us know how you get on. Hopefully it will be something simple and easy to fix so you can go back to a normal sex life

What I'm gate ring from your post is that you also have a strange smell, but you know it has to be normal due to the fact that you douche regularly. Is this correct? I believe the reason you have the smell is because you douche. Douching washes away, not only the bad bacterial, but also the good, causing a woman to smell strange down there until she gets her vaginal health back on track. You may want to go ahead and set up an appointment to see the doctor so that you can be tested for BV. I believe doing this would take care of your strange smell. Please forgive me if I am wrong, and just reading too much into what you wrote. I have had this problem before about a year ago. I am 34 years old and never ever had a strange smell of any kind until I was 33. It blew my mind. I ended up doing a ton of reading about BV. I believe it may be back. It worries me that I've had this problem 4 times in the past year, but never once before that. Is it my age? Is it something I'm doing differently? I've always washed my vagina with soap, and I've been married to the same man for 14 years.

Hey Hun! Guess what.. My results were back.. And it's BV ! I was treated for it before my results came back, I don't feel fully back to normal so I'm going to eat lots of yogurt and see if I feel anything changes. If not, I'm going to request further treatmen

So, scrolling through this discussion I have some similar symptoms. As well as a couple questions.
What if the female doesn't get up to go use the bathroom right away perse, yet the semen are swimming in a straight line for about 30 minutes; does that enable to reach deeper parts of the body?
Then say, she doesn't do a lot of standing everyday. Wouldn't that allow it to stick around up there longer as well?
Then let's throw in the size of penis, and how deep that is inside the body while ejaculating? I'm only 5'1", and I can point to my lower abdomen where I could feel his entire climax.
Lastly, is it possible for the amount of intercourse within a period also aid in these questions. Say like 7 out of 10 days, two days of which ejaculate was released twice?
I too, have had a couple BV infections in the past, but no less than 7 years or so. I'd like to think I take good care of my area, so I'd like to consider what else it might be before 'freaking' out over it.
All of those inquiries above are my current situation. I do not stand all day, but try to be active as often as possible. He and I had sex for the first time two weeks ago, but this past week has been 'busier' than at first. So, Coaching Softball today, I suddenly felt a large warm drip of, well his semen. There was a significant amount, and the center of the fluid was thicker (creamer looking) than that surrounding it. I rid of the panties, showered when I got home, and slipped on a clear pair. There was some more as the day went on, not even comparing to the first splash. But this is when the unwelcoming odor started.
I've only been with two men in the past 5 years, with zero issues with my last relationship. Just looking for answers or possibilities before I go start pointing fingers. I know his sexual history okay, but he is a man and there could have been room for 'error'.
Looking forward to your response. Thanks!

Are you still having the same issues? And with the same partner? Because I have been going through this for so long myself. With that said, I have been numerous times for a full panel. The Doctors would think I’m crazy. Only you know you’re body and how it works. And something was telling me it wasn’t right. So, me being the person I am wanted to of course know what’s going on with my body. But just as well, prove to those Doctors “I am not crazy”! What I found during my studies was astonishing. “It makes sense now”! Some Doctors, Gyno’s, OB’s, practitioners, believe that men do not or can not contract BV. That is 100% “FALSE”! Men and Women alike get BV. It is harder for the Male verse Female to get it. And much harder to diagnose and treat men verse women. I went to see a Nurse Practitioner (Gyno) and explained my theory, with research to back it up of course. I saw this look on her face the whole time I’m telling her my “findings”. After I was done she agreed and said, she herself has had to treat many men for BV. Due to the female continuing to have symptoms and all negative results. The next step is to make sure you do all the right things. Wear cotton panties (not too tight), use gentle soap (she recommended Dove. Told me DITCH THE VAGISAL AND POWDERS), No Powders or Sprays, take probiotics (daily), drink lots of water, eat a healthy diet, urinate before & after intercourse, which I was already practicing all those things. The next step is treating the male. If you are doing everything right and it still happens. Don’t give up.....
Also, a hormone imbalance can play a part in contracting BV much easier. And there is various types of hormone imbalance. I hope this helps and hope things are going better for you.

I totally know what you’re saying. Normally smell good but then after sex the funk sets in. Omg. It’s so maddening. It’s like what the hell is wrong with your stuff!! I feel you. I think it’s BV. We probably just need to bite the bullet and go to the gynecologist. Uggg I’ve tried everything including yogurt and homeopathic inserts. Do our guys have an std ?? I don’t know. But yuk.

It's interesting how rude you are. This message proves the statement "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing". You should inform yourself and get your temper in check pet. Sperm can survive for up to 5 days in the vagina. Since, however, the vagina is self cleaning, what shouldn't be happening is puddles of ejaculate falling out days after sex.
What IS possible, is puddles of discharge falling out.
Also, there is no reason why those in a monogamous relationship can't use condoms. Some may use it for birth control routinely. And even if you don't, choosing to wear a condom to help discover the cause of a medical condition is perfectly acceptable!
I suggest you pipe down. There is no excuse for rudeness!
