Rough night tonight

After having a great week since a long talk with the the Gastro doc and feeling much more positive and less afraid and anxious, I've had my vile spasms for a few hours.

I felt it start within 10 mins of eating some chocolate.  It was dark chocolate with nuts in it.

This familiar pain started. The pains in my upper central part of my stomach. Moving to the usual right side right thru my back. It's in waves and takes my breath away. I drank loads of water which helped a bit not much.

I had to take 2 co codomol and soaked in a hot bath.

The tabs kicked in a bit VIT took the edge of the pain.

Lying in bed relaxing but the pain is only minimal at moment.

But the docs say it's not gb related. I think that's rubbish.  Sure it's gb probs like maybe tiny stones moving.

Get a second opinion! My first attack took my breath and I almost passed out. That was all it took! Find you a good Internists. Have you not had a cat scan at all to investigate your pain at all? If not, I would find me another doctor. Just my opinion!

Sometimes GI docs are not familiar with what Allergists know and that is food allergy can irritate the Gall Bladder and make it spasm.  Whether a cramp is from stretching wrong in bed or swimming it still hurts like heck! I wonder if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in the chocolate bar.  You might want to start a food diary and keep track of what you ate before the pain started.  I could not stand chocolate for about a month before surgery and for weeks afterward.  I do not like it as much now.  It is high in fat and causes digestion problems.  But if you know you do not have gall bladder disease, you could be having food intollerance.  Best of health to you!

Go for a abdomen ultrasound or MRCT scans.

No worry if that is gallstone since the gallstones can be removed with a new tech without needing to remove your gallbladder.

Hi Kim, can you elaborate on this please. I have a 13 mm gallstone and while I do not get the awful pain some of us are in, I do get a degree of pain. My doc is very stubborn and I would like to go armed with information before I request this.. Thanks

The pain started about half hour after I ate the nutty chocolate. Maybe not even that. It is like a very bad indigestion. Comes in waves and makes me go hot. It starts in middle then moves to right hand side, under rubs over shoulder and into my right hand side of back too.

It can last until I take string pain meds. Even water hurts going down. Although what I did last night was to drink lots of water quickly and it did seem to help. Then I took two co codomol which took most of the pain away I gad a soak in a hot bath. I seemed to be about 90% better after.

This morning I seem ok. Let's see what happens when I eat. I have had so many abdo scans, gastric emptying scan, HIDA scan specifically for gall bladder. I've had my liver, kidneys, spleen and ovaries scanned too. Like the surgeon said something would have shown up by now. But I've not had a cat scan on my stomach for three years. Then it was upper respiratory just going low enough to see I have a hiatus hernia

I would like to have my gall bladder cat scanned but not sure they will do anymore.

That is so simple, We have a new invented device/equipment that is used for gallstone removal in any shape and size and the operation is something like laparoscopic surgery but with less incision and less side effects, etc

We did more than 4000 gallstone removal since past 6 years and all was successful.

Well they did the HIDA scan and said they saw nothing. Not even sludge. So not sure that would be beneficial really.

No I am not in UK but to be assured of your problem in liver, gallbladder and ducts, a ultrasound scan or MRCP is ok although CT is great but due to the high radiation did not advise you for now

I am going to ask for a ct scan. But because I've had other specific investigations my Gastro doesn't think it's needed.

Your symptoms sound just like mine. Nobody even gave a thought to my havinggallstones till being ill on holiday and a fresh team who found one of my gallstones stuck in the bile duct, and was given emergency treatment. But was unaware of second stone. At least it started the ball rolling for me. It was originally put down to either me IBS, Severe diverticulitis or Barretts Oesophagus. Keep pushing if not happy, and you are entitled to a second opinion. Good luck to you.
