S/O Vitamin D post - Supplements?

I posted in the 'low vitamin D' post below, but I'll repost it here:
I have tingling in my feet and my legs often feel 'off' when I wake up in the morning. It's hard to describe, but they feel weak/tired/wobbly. It typically lasts for a couple of hours and they feel fine the rest of the day, although the tingling/burning feet comes and goes throughout the day (they're typically fine in the evenings/overnight). I wonder if it has to do with my Vit D levels? I've never been that low, but I'm wondering if I still need more? My level was 25.9 in Feb 2017, so my doctor told me to start taking an OTC supplement (in addition to my daily multivitamin). I started taking 2,000 units daily and my level increased to 34.3 in Feb 2018. Looking at the reference range, 30 seems to be at the low end and 80 at the high end. I'm due for bloodwork again in early March, so I'll be interested to see where it is at that point. If it's still on the low end of the range, I will ask my doctor about bumping up my daily intake. Thank you for posting this, I am going to do some research on Vit D and menopause symptoms!
My additional question is: what supplements do you take and what helps with your symptoms? Other than a multi and the Vit D, I don't take anything. Are there things that you're supposed to avoid? Or things that should be taken together to help? I don't know much about supplements, but I'll certainly be asking my doc at my next appointment.

I have the same burning feet symptom when my D is low! I get burning sensations on other parts of the body too. (The insight of my legs--sexy.) I also get terrible muscle aches like I have the flu when my levels are low. I have to supplement 7000 IUs a day to get my level up to 60. And if I miss a few days, my symptoms come back.
Vit D is fat soluable. (It only gets into the body carried by a fat.) Counter-intuitively perhaps, it is best absorbed with a cholesterol. I eat 1/2 a hamburger in the morning with my supplement. So maybe start by keeping yourself at the dose you are at, but making sure to take your vitamin with an egg or something that has a bit of cholesterol.
You've got really good data here. For an increase of 2000 IU's of supplements, your levels went up about 10 points. Maybe discuss that with your doctor? Your body might do best with a level of 50 or so. Certainly in the median of the range, but higher than 34.
Let us know how you are doing! XXOO MaddysMom

Thanks, maddysmom, for your response. I do take my supplement with food that contains some fat, but not sure about cholesterol. I will certainly talk to my doc after seeing what my results are in a couple of months.
