Scared of removal surgery /fatigue problem

hi, i have posted here before but i now have more details and a surgery date. i have to get my gallbladder removed on Thursday. i am only 18 and really scared. i am mostly scared about going under (i have been under before but it was only for about 10 mins) so i was wondering if its any different the longer you are under. my second concern is about a weird symptom that i have which is fatigue. its not just every now and then, i am talking about a consent feeling of being tired and like i have a big rock in my head. i read online that this is possible, but i was wondering if anyone had the same feeling and did it go away after surgery. i really hope it does because i can't live a normal life feeling like this all the time.

Please research Ursodioxycholic acid treatment before you consent to having your gall bladder removed (cholecystectomy). The treatment dissolves gall stones that are cholesterol type.

It is said by the medical profession that a stone no larger than 20mm can be dissolved.

Of course that treatment if successful removes the need to remove the gall bladder.

Some people without much experience of any thing state that oh well 'they' can come back....

this is true but even if there is no gall bladder stones can evolve in the bile duct and other parts of the body where calculi can form.

If stones did come back what about re treatment to dissolve further stones and what about a preventative dose of Urso????????? Provided the doctor is fully aware of the treatment in the first place?

i wish i could do that but i have no other choice. my gallbladder is too far gone after almost 5 years. my surgeon told me the chances of something bad happening is slim and that he has never had anything severe happen. everyone i know who has gotten it removed are fine including my parents.

    Hi theresa

I'm sorry this thread appears to have gone off topic. I agree with Ipsy and scaremongering or pushing personal agenda's in my opinion is totally unhelpful. We're supposed to be a friendly place and to support each other.

Any operation is a scary prospect for most people I think 😃 I certainly was nervous. But my experience was great.

The operation took 45 minutes I was in the hospital 4 hours. I returned to a normal diet from the minute I came round chicken salad sandwich with mayonnaise, coffee, orange juice and biscuits. No pain from the op just some discomfort from dispersal of the gas (used to inflate the stomach during the op). I kept a food diary just in case I had a reaction to a food so far the only thing I need to avoid is eating a whole bag of boiled sweets at once 😃

Think positive thoughts you will be fine.!

Good luck and please let us know how you are 😃

Look carefully at laxydaisys comments and it will be seen that the statement I made about a singular dissolution treatment ie Ursodioxycholic acid has been miss quoted by her a s all sorts of tablets !!!!! The dissolution treatment is a medical procedure where by the patient is closely monitored by a doctor so that a liver function test is carried out before the treatment and during the treatment...........

Where the statement 9 out of 10 patients come from I'll never know but as I said if Ursodioxycholic acid treatment is research it can then be discussed with the specialist and if the specialist knows full about that treatment then the outcome may well be favourable as opposed to an operation.

Hi, i had gallbladder surgery last year..i was terrified too. Are you having the Larascopic If so it is fine. they will put you out for an hour. My surgeon told me it is a simple procedure. if your having the Larascopic surgery. .They will put you under and make four little incisions. one to inflate your abdomen with the special gas . The second is for the camera, so the surgeon can see what he is doing and the 3rd one is for the instruments that he uses and the fourth one on the upper right side is for him to pull out the gallbladder. You will have gas for awhile afterwards and may have some cramping. You just have to becareful in what you do for the first few weeks. Good luck.
