I'm sorry for posting again. but I'm terrified 😢 I'm still waiting for my ultrasound on Monday but my anxiety is out of control.

my lymph nodes are still up and all of my googling makes it look like my igg level of 33.2 must be an old infection. I don't know what to do. I'm was under 10.0. my test was done after most symptoms had gone. just swollen lymph nodes which seemed to pop up after most other symptoms went.

I don't even know what my post is going to achieve I'm just so worried I can barely sleep or

i had mono for 7 months, i had all kinds of tests done thinking it was cancer or something more serious, but trust me, it were something more serious, your doctors would have known within a few simple tests. i know it is hard go ease anxiety, but with mono the numbers go up and down, igg & igm included. symptoms can come and go like they did for me, but in time the virus goes away.

Thank you Clayton. I've had heaps of blood tests, all normal. chest x-ray which was clear. ebv and CMV both positive for a past infection. I was tested about 9 weeks after everything started. doctor doesn't know what's wrong with me. she's sent me for an ultrasound on my lymph nodes, that's booked for Monday. in the meantime she's going to talk to the head doctor at the surgery to see what he thinks. but I am so terrified not having any answers. I feel like going to hospital so they can sedate me and find out what's wrong but that's not really an option as I have 2 young children 😦

did you have swollen lymph nodes in groin and armpit? When did they pop up? that's the part I'm most worried about. they only came up recently but I had stabbing pains in them for weeks before they

      sam,

i hope this will help ease your mind! im going on 2 years this month of having ebv!! i like you had stabbing pain in my groin and both armpits! i also had terrible neck pain in the back! after drs initially telling me i also had a past infection i saw an internal infectious disease dr who looked at my results from other drs and said i def had mono and was in the acute recovery stage because my #'s were soo high! i also had a ton of throat issues that was so bad i had to see an ent dr who scoped my throat because i was sure i had throat cancer! the dr told me it was from the mono and more the likely from my lymph nodes that were swollen in the back that made it hard to swallow and felt like i had a lump in there! i'm much much better , but even after 2 years i still have symptoms and most of have gone away but, when I'm really tired or stressed my neck pain comes back! i also had pain right under my left rib cage! i would highly recommend taking a really good multi vitamin! also when i went to the specialist she tested my b12 and came back very very low so ive been on B12 since! my point here is ive noticed alot of people through this forum that have had the same issue and that and can cause alot of weird symptoms in your body! might be worth having them test you! since taking the b12 oh, and i take 1.000 mg vit C it has really helped!

i know it feels like something might be terribly wrong, trust me i planned my dang funeral a dozen times! you will be ok! stop googling as hard as it is!!! take a deep breath and it will all be ok!! i hope this helps you a little!!

Hi Sam, I was diagnosed with Mono a year and two months ago now and despite being better than I was, I still get symptoms flare up all the time and really have to pace myself still. I was like you, so scared the first 6 months as I couldn't understand why I was so ill. I was in hospital for ages and doctors were testing me for all thoughts of things, such as lymphoma as they couldn't believe I was so ill from glandular fever. I had ultra scans, Endoscopys, I saw specialists and everything came back as fine, the only thing positive was glandular fever, It's crazy how ill this virus makes you but honestly don't worry because it will just be glandular fever. My glands used to be the size of tennis balls constantly and although they are still swollen they are nothing like they used to be. My dad had glandular fever 20 years ago and when he gets a cold or anything they swell up huge, think its all just part of having glandular fever even when you have recovered. But try not to worry! My advise is eat super healthy, rest as much as possible, don't drink alcohol and take loads of vitamins. I also take CBD oil which helped so much with my recovery! Hope this helps and you feel slightly better soon. J

    Hi Sam,

So sorry to hear you have been feeling so terrible, it truly is understandable with this virus to feel so frightening and panicked at times. I went through the same and it was awful Sam. Like you and many others, I went through the horrible cycle of trying to google things looking for some reassurance and only finding the scare stories.

Remember Sam that the vast vast majority of people who go through this virus get well again - it's only the tiny tiny tiny percentage of people with complications who post, most people who had the virus and got well never bother posting their recovery story!

And you've done all the right things by getting tested and hoping very much that the ultrasound results can put your mind at ease. Remember too that it is SO normal for blood and other test results to show 'normal' or 'past infection' with this thing but you can still be going through the illness and the effects of it.

I wish it was easy to switch the mind off from worry and running away with different thoughts - but most definitely Sam I want you to take real reassurance from the fact that most of your tests have shown encouraging results - that is a good thing although I know it's frustrating when not able to get that firm definitive diagnosis - if it had been anything more serious than mono then these tests almost certainly would have shown some abnormalities.

Hoping you are feeling a bit more settled by the time you get this, anxiety is an awful awful thing - sometimes just going back to the simple things like deep breaths and telling yourself out loud 'It's okay, I'm okay' and 'This will pass' are simple but really good techinques that have helped me a lot.

Thinking of you Sam and believe me you WILL get through this and be well again - I truly believe that in my heart of hearts.

Thank you Craig. you always encourage me and help me to feel better. I'm very scared of what tomorrow will reveal. I will update you (if the radiologist tells me anything), if not I'll update on Tuesday when I go back to the doctor. I hope you're feeling better and your blood test results were ok and that the headache has long gone xx

Good luck Sam for the start of the week, hoping there can be some good news at last for you and something that really helps take the pressure off you.

Thanks for your best wishes for me too, been feeling a bit down and upset over the weekend, my back has been bothering me as well as headache and sometimes it gets a bit much for me. Hoping for a better week ahead for us all.

Still thinking of you and believing better times are ahead for us all, thanks to our good God.

Thank you Craig. I hope you're feeling a little better today. could you go for a massage? maybe that would help? I had my ultrasound this morning. the doctor wrote on the form "+/- fna (fine needle aspiration)" and I was so worried about them doing it. they did the scan and I asked her if it looked ok, she said she couldn't tell me anything until she went and spoke with the doctor there. they both came back into the room and obviously I was terrified, but he said everything looks normal, no signs of cancer. they are the lymph nodes that swell to fight infection.

now I just need to find out 100% what the infection is. I am beyond tired. it's only 11am and I want to go back to bed but I can't because I have a 2 and 3 year old 😦 back to the doctor tomorrow to see what's next.

That is good news to hear to calm you down some knowing it is not cancer. Always is scary i thought i had it to for a while. Honestly did not know what i had so i was thinking everything possible but as the test came and went and got the results they never found anything bad or crazy. Just got to know it takes time..a lot of it obviously..

Thank you. were you the one who's lymph nodes didn't swell till 5 months?

      Hi Sam,

Thanks for the word of support and advice, yes have been seeing a physio for my back and just hoping that can help things settle down over the coming days, with God's help.

So pleased to hear that the ultrasound results were normal and hoping that can take a bit of a weight off your shoulders. It definitely sounds like it is the mono that you have been fighting, or a similar type thing at least.

I can only imagine how tough it must be coping with this as a mother to young children. You are doing an amazing job Sam to keep going, and I believe you're going to have lots of healthy and happy times spent with your children ahead when you're over this thing completely, which you will be believe me! Hoping for a better week ahead, I've been feeling overwhelmed too yesterday was a terrible day just hoping things can be more settled this week.

      Hi Sam,

This is really positive news. I had an ultrasound on a swollen gland & they advised mine was benign too. This is such good news Sam as it's basically your immune system doing its job.

Has the doctor advised what the next steps are?

thank you Gill. no, last time I saw her she said she had been meaning to speak to the head doctor at the surgery about me. I asked when I should come back and she said in a week. So I got the scan today and I will see her tomorrow. I'll see what she says and if I'm not satisfied I'll go to another doctor.

Thanks Sam, your words mean a lot - and you're so right in that I've been so lucky that my parents have been there for me and put up with me through lots of hard times and times when I've been a nightmare to be around and not very positive in my attitude or demeanour - they have put up with so much for me and stood by me and without them I don't know where I'd be.

Hoping so much you are feeling better soon too, you are a blessing to this forum Sam and I sense strongly that you a very caring and loving mother and that your children are going to be a blessing to you in the future also, and there for you when you need them like you are there for them now. They will understand one day how you continued to be there and provide for them through these tough days you are going through now - and believe me Sam you are going to get through it and get well again, I really believe that.
