Scratch-like marks appearing on skin What is causing this? [picture inside]

Hi, recently I've been getting these marks like this on my skin. Earlier today a line like this appeared on my skin seemingly out of nothing. I didn't feel anything when it happened. What can be causing this? Picture: http://postimg.org/image/97pzxschf/ I *definitely* did not scratch myself. They look like straight scratches but I did some research and they may be burrow marks of some kind. I have also been feeling itchy at night though I do not know what the cause of it is or whether it is related to this.

I have been getting large ones like this and also much smaller ones on my hands and arms and occasionally other places. A few hours later after I took this photo another large scratch-like mark appeared nearby on the same area in plain sight and I was really astonished and miffed about it. I suspect it is from a bug of some kind. What could this be? Thank you.

Springtails in the environment. They are attracted to mold and yeast. Use benzyl benzoate and clean up the mold. Use vinegar

Hi Shirley. Although this was so long ago, you seem to have the same symptoms as me and I've found springtails in the house. Did your symptoms go away? What did you have to do? What was it finally? Thanks

I have also been getting these mysterious scratch marks on my arms, they do itch and burn. from reading every comment on this conversation, im starting to think that most likely this is some kind of bug/parasite? if so.. how does one get rid of it as it would seem quite a mission because how cold you get rid of something so small in our big houses and it would be near impossible to reach every nook and cranny of our houses? so what to do? bathe in vinegar everyday? whats the action steps we need to take to get this problem under control?

Investigate your home for mold to start with. Or any place you think you might have come in contact with mold. I have the same problem with the strange scratch marks I just recently discovered that our heating and air conditioning units were inundated with black mold.

My friend who is a Homeopath gave me the following info of what he feels may be a cause: "it sounds like an allergy based reaction. When the system /skin becomes sensitive like that there is normally other stuff going on and normally in the gut. So the first step would be to try and normalize gut health. A medical diagnosis may also be hives/urticaria.Hope this helps."

Research Koebners phenomenon . Seems to be the best scientific explanation thus far. Rashes in straight lines as well .

Could be parasites under the skin causing the scratch marks. see a gp for comprehensive blood and stool tests.

Hello everyone. When I had a biopsy of this taken the results indicated a sort of eczema. I have been working to try to solve longstanding gut issues so it would not surprise me if there was a connection.

I also have been suffering with the same problems for a couple of years now i am 46 now. These mark's just appear on my skin..they look like a cat scratched me sometimes in straight lines but also in circular form. I don't have a cat and it happens all different times of the day. My ankles have been swollen for months and I feel tired and low on energy. I have noticed it happens more often right before I menstruate. I get this warm feeling and they appear all different times of the year. it appears more often when I am in warm temperatures.

I was told by my dermatologist that it's a form of a hive possibly chronic hives. Sometimes there is no explanation of why they are occurring could be allergies sensitive skin but they do appear like lines and scratches dotted lines dots blotches.. They do break the skin sometimes and bleed I was told The reason for this is they are very inflamed but normally hives to not break skin.

Have anyone found more info about these random scratches? I've been getting scratch like marks and different kinds for 2 years, at first thinking it was bed bugs (i'm just coming down from that but still 15% suspicious lol) but haven't found any pure evidence besides these marks and tiny blood spots here and there.

I have found plenty of carpet beetles and i hear that the larvae can cause reactions but i'm still not sure its that. this week i have scratches behind my ear, fresh welts on my back neck, leg smh i need this mess to go away

Check strongyloidosis. I am just being sent to infectious diseases again. Mine went on for years here and there. Check neck hairs for very tiny sticky things..so small you cannot really see them...markings do not have to be serpentine they can be straight. Treatment is oral ivermectin. It is something carried by many but seldom found and many have no symptoms.

      Sky23,

Have you seen the infectious disease specialist yet? Just wondering if they found anything.

      Thanks!

Seen infectious diseases. Had a blood test no results yet. The gold standard for testing is multiple lots of stool over days..that's not practical due to travel distance. I shall post if the blood test is positive or not..it does not have hundred percent accuracy. Apparently you can have this thing for years and many times with no symptoms. Biggest danger is if you take steroids..so I must wait.

slight breakthrough..saw an Asian Doctor for something unrelated. The Doctor had worked in India before coming to the UK. I had 2 day old scratches to the wrist. he had no problem in suspecting Strongyloidosis and said the profile fitted. it is very common in India and a pretty regular thing to treat as is hookworm. He told me to take the worm meds and afterwards check my poo for worms and if there are any dead ones there is the diagnosis. still awaiting blood results.

Thats what i was trying to tell you before. i think my post was removed? Also most skin conditions have a strong physcosynatic link. I am an Ayurvedic practitioner in the UK and i have seen these cases many times. You need a combination of ayurvedic meds for this plus possible panchakarna procedure .

had 3 lots of 2 day each of stromactol. Also hit internet way of clearing skin. 1 tablespoon tumeric, 2 tablespoon neem leaf, half cup neem oil, half cup coconut oil, 4 drops clove oil., 6 drops teatree oil, left on each day 30 to 40 mins for 2 weeks has done the trick so far..there is an internet site which has instructions. was supposed to use 12 drops tea tree but I know it can be a bit toxic ..All is quiet for now and am waiting to see if there is any recurrence.
