Second period after menopause

Posted , 10 users are following.

I just started my period again...first time was in September. I had blood tests done that showed I was menopausal a year ago. Next week I will have an endometrial biopsy and it is stressing me. Have any of you ladies had an endometrial biopsy? Cancer is my biggest fear right now.

I had one previously. Mine was done right in the doctor's office. More stress was created by the unknown and until I got the all clear by the doctor, I tried to not dwell on it but it's tough as it's natural to worry.  Best I can say is try to keep yourself a bit busy and know that while they say we're technically in true menopausal state after one year of no periods, that's not etched in stone. It's true that some of us do have periods that will spontaneously start again without anything being wrong. Please try not to get overwhelmed.

Hoping for the best outcome for you.

Yes a long time ago because cells had shown up in a pap they are scary to think about but takes minutes to do and it's all done. You will do fine!!

    Hi

Yes I have easier said than done but try not to worry. Results generally don't take more than a week maybe a fortnight.

They tried to take a lower biopsy from the neck of the womb but I screamed so much and passed out with the pain so booked in for it all by a general anesthetic

The doctor really didn't say anything other than I need to wait until my period is done to have the test. I am young for menopause...I just turned 43. My thinks maybe I am not as old and shrively as thought 😊

My symptoms started at 40. My OBGYN said it can start as early as your 30's so I was really surprised .

It's a condition that can occur when the lining of womb thickens - it doesn't always happen tho.

That's what my ultrasound had shown..thickening of the lining of my uterus. I had a uterine biopsy but it was normal and the ablation took care of the heavy periods.

That's great you managed to get yours sorted.

I guess we are all unique so each situation is different.

      Yes so true..

I wanted to mention too that when I went to see the specialist to have a uterine biopsy, a vaginal ultrasound and even after that was normal no abnormalities or fibroids the Doctor still was suggesting I get a hysterectomy, so I went to another Doctor for a second opinion and I took all my test results and he said I didn't need a hysterectomy. All I needed according to him was an endometrium ablation.

I'm so happy I went for a second opinion because immediately after getting the ablation the heavy bleeding stopped.

The first year after the ablation my periods were very short and light and for the past 3 years my periods have stopped completely.

From what I understand its only an endometrial biopsy that can determine what the situation is. I have endometrial hyperplasia (simple with no atypia) determined by biopsy & hysteroscopy done under local. I'm 5 weeks post having a mirena fitted to release progesterone so the EH will hopefully regress.

There is always generally a solution.
