Seizure Fear

Hi All, I am back unfortunately. After numerous doctors visits and neurology appointments and yet still I come back to this forum. I still keep getting these deja vu experiences but what is more apparant now is that I am having these intense waves of fear wash over me which lasts a few seconds and it makes me feely very uneasy with a nervous feeling in stomach. My eyes lose focus and its like my vision goes darker and cloudy and I panic. I start to worry that this is seizures and from what I read it sounds just like temporal lobe seizures. I am so scared has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Please can someone please please help or advise me? Could I keep being misdiagnosed with this going on for years?

You have had various tests over an extended period, you have been diagnosed with Anxiety. If that is the case you need to accept your results and begin to try and control your illness.

Try MINDFULNESS Relaxation Technique, you will find an explanation on the internet., BREATHING TECHNIQUES  will also help, both on the Internet.

If you are suffering Fear and Neurological condition your GP would or should have been given medications for your Anxiety and Stress.

Does your GP know regards fear of Seizure, again in your case it sounds like Anxiety, however you need to be checked over  for your concerns, regards Seizure.

You could also have your eyes checked if you have not have them done over a 1/2 year period

Hi Borderriever, Thank you for the reply. Yes countless times I have been to doctors and seen two neuros in fact one neurologist said that he would put his mortgage on it not being epilepsy. I have had an MRI and an EEG a couple of years ago which came back clear.

But neuros do make errors and I am experiencing all the symptoms that match epilepsy/seizures. I have been on countless seizure/epilepsy websites and my symptoms do match. The fear aura/deja vu episodes/sick feeling in stomach etc...

I am worried sick but I feel that I am not being diagnosed for the right illness

      Hello Jonathan

You have gone through various scans etc and visited Neuros, all have come back clear. Sometimes when we suffer Anxiety our fears can be made worse if we start to research a health problem, we become irrational and that makes our Anxiety worse. I would prefer to trust what the tests have found and move on. Many of the problems you describe would have been picked up and confirmed by scan.

All I can say is Have you had a Seizure, are you Epileptic, you would know, also people around you would see an attack and be concerned. Sometimes Anxiety, Stress, and possibly Depression can mimic various conditions.

You really need to move on from this position, you are making yourself ill and so very unhappy

Hi Borderriever, I have not had a seizure as in a full on fit but these symptoms I describe are called auras from what I have read which are a form of seizure or prelude to a larger seizure where you go unconcious.

      Jonathan

An Aura is generally is the stages to Migraine.

You do not seem to have Migraine and your GP would have been looking for both conditions.

Generally if you suffering a  Epilepsy you would have had that confirmation by now

You can however go back to your GP and discuss the findings of your Tests. I would imaging your GP will not want to subject you to the aforementioned tests in the near future as these test can be problematic. It sounds like Anxiety, the GP would have tested for the three different health concerns and you would have been informed accordingly.

What further pathway would you wish the GP to take.

You need to begin to trust the results of your tests and consider Anxiety is your problem

i had this sort of thing twice while on holiday last year and on my wedding night. i had a feeling of deja vu then a wired feeling in my stomach it was very strange. then on my wedding night i was staring at a basket in the hotel room and thought hang on a minute ive seen this before. i told my wife in 10 seconds her daughter is going to come in and ask for her tshirt. straight away she walked in ans asked for her tshirt. my wife thought it was very strange. i dont know where id seen this before but it all happened as i saw it in a memory. again though i got that wired feeling in my stomach aswell. i went to see a neurologist who said there is nothing wrong with me.

Hi Darren, Thank you for the response. The thing is though I have had this going on years and on a frequent basis at times. I can be sat going about my day as normal then all of a sudden A wave of panic or fear will wash over me. The room seems to go slightly foggy and darker then within a few seconds it feels ok again. Or I will get the strange deja vu experience which can last seconds and then vanishes and I can sometimes forget what it was. What can it be that causes these feelings? All things point to seizure from what I have read

if you have been having this for years and have been checked then it may not be seizures.

there must be other causes of this besides seizures. im going to research this a bit further because its got me very interested. it does sound like auras but might be from some other benign cause.

So if they are auras then that is a seizure or the start of a seizure so what other explanation can be the cause? Also say once a year  I get this weird zig zag in my vision it makes me sick and leaves me feeling awful then it's followed by a migraine. Don't know if it's connected but I am so scared I may have a seizure disorder and it will go worse

i seem to be hitting the same things myself online. i have only read one thing that says deja vu is caused by anxiety. its something to do with chemicals in the brain that are firing.

      maybe or maybe not.

i think it would be a good idea to have a long chat with our g.p. maybe get some more professional advice and see if theres anything else test wise that could be done

      Hi jonathan,

You have been given some good advice here. From what I have read about anxiety it plays tricks on your mind. If you keep telling yourself you are going to have a seizure then your mind is going to mimic all of the symptoms you have googled for seizures.

If I were you I would go back to your doctor and tell him your thoughts so that he/she can reassure you. Perhaps suggest having fortnightly appointments for a while to help you over this. Sometimes we are our own worse enemy.

      All the best

      Hi Jayn,

Thank you very much for some reassuring advice. Do you beleive that thinking about seizure symptoms can actually create them?

I have just had another two second episode. I was sat at computer going about my business as normal. All of a sudden this wave intense fear washed over me for about a 3-5 seconds before fading it makes my vision go off and panicky. I am so scared these are not small seizures.

How can this be anxiety when I was not even anxious at the time? If these are seizures then what if these are just a taster to big seizures that could be about to happen

didnt mean to scare you bro.

ive seen my g.p today and we went over all my recent test results and said to me, all the tests show that you have no seizure disorder and no evidence of ever having one. do the same as me bro and go and chat to your g.p
