Self diagnosing please help!

Hi after 5 years of on & off pain. A lot of worry and stress which has helped in the break up of 2 relationships both involving children I am sick of the doctors ignoring the fact that I think I have cp and fobbing me off with ibs and pills.

Obviously I'm hoping I don't have it as over the years I've reaserched probably every google site so I feel I'm a bit of an expert and it sounds like a horrible disease.

I was just wondering if any of you have it but have absolutely no vomiting, feeling sick from time to time but no actual vomiting and normal healthy coloured stools, not ever pale even when diarreha palest they have ever been is yellowish when tummy is very upset but never clay coloured.

My only symptom is the pain. After 5 years of it would I be vomiting and having pale or oily stools?

My pain is also never disabling just stabs at me under left rib, under breast, in my side and back every now and again for a few seconds.

Any tests I've had are clear. Most were 4 years ago so I don't really count them but recently had bloods done several times, stool test, ultrasound they were all clear. Should I just trust my doc and try and let the cp thing go? I do have specialist appoint next month but the worry in the mean time is driving me mad!

There is such a thing as stenosis of sphinchter of Oddi.  This is a valve which can be damaged with passage of a small gallstone or just not function correctly.  It can mimic symptoms of pancretitis without the symptoms of the oily stool and high creatinin levels. Can be seen on endoscopy by using a simple measuring device to show how open in millimeters it is or by using medication to make it spasm.  During endoscopy the doctor can: stretch it, cut it, sew it open or put a stent to hold it open.

I too have none of the normal symptoms.  My pain started 7/2/14.  On 7/4 my pain was so intense I went to the hospital by ambulance.  They did blood work, CT, MRI and X-Rays and determined I had acute pancreatitis. The first 2 days all I could do is scream.  I have always had a very high tolerance to pain medication.  I stayed there for 6 days.  I went back in 8/22.  I was on triple doses of dillaudid every 2 hours with minor pain relief.  I am so happy your pain is minimal. I have been in pain on some level since 7/2.  I too don't drink.  My doctors can't believe I don't drink and  have pancreatitis as well as 2 pancreatic cysts.  I envy your pain level!

I was diagnosed within 3 hours at the emergency room.  I was diagnosed with blood work and X-Ray.  I don't know why your Drs. had trouble with your diagnosis.
