Semen comes out after peeing

Hi, I'm getting pretty concerned now, almost every time if not every time I go to urinate after I have finished urinating about 2-10 seconds later seamen comes out of my flaccid (soft) penis. It doesn't just come out by itself most times, most times it makes me feel the need to push a bit and then it comes out. It started a year or two ago and sometimes its not just a drop it can be a stream. It was very rare at the start 2 years ago, but now it's 8-15 times a day, depending on how much I go for a wee. I am single 40yo and have been single most of my life. I do masturbate about 3 -5 times a week and that has never changed. Even if I masturbate before I go to the toilet, it doesn't matter if i masturbate 1min before I go to toilet 30min or even 2 days I still feel the need to push after urinating and out comes the seamen from my flaccid penis. So regular masturbating or u irregular masturbating is not the cause. I do get erections when turned on (porn, pretty lady ect.) but can't remember for awhile getting an erection just for the sake of it like I used to years ago. I could wake up hard sometimes, but not as often as I used to, It may be cos I'm 40 and it may have nothing to do with problem, Sometimes (like now for instance as I'm writing this) I need to wee but I know I can feel seamen wanting to be pushed out as well. There is nothing I can think of that has changed in my life to effect me and cause this. Please should I be worried and could you please be brutality honest and give me a list of possible things that this could be. (Best case scenario and please also worst case scenario. I don't have a huge penis 5-6 inch and also when getting naked in front of doctor , most times get aroused whether male or female especially if they touch me down there, so I am not in a rush to see doctor because I get embarrassed. I will say I've had over the years unprotected sex.  This is why I'm asking you for advice and if anyone else has experienced this. I don't take drugs expect I'm on Endone for severe back pain. But this all started before taking the medication. As I said don't hold back please, best case scenario and very worst case scenario. Sorry for this being so long but I wanted to give you all of the information so we don't have to go back and forth to much.

I have been experiencing this more and more over the years. I'm 40 now and noticed it first in my mid-twenties. A few months ago it happened and decided to dig into it via the web, from what I read it's just discharge from an over build up of semen after not ejaculating for a while. I also suffer from PIED (Porn Induced Erectile Dysfunction). I try not to masturbate because I've been desensitized over the years from doing it so much, however after a week or so of not orgasming that's when it the leaking after peeing happens to me.

I'm highly sceptical about "Porn Induced Erectile Dysfunction" being a real thing btw.  An article from 2013 says this:

"A review of Pubmed, the largest online database of medical literature, reveals that there is not a single published study linking pornography and erectile dysfunction. A search for the terms “erectile dysfunction pornography” yields 52 publications. Of these, the bulk are studies that use pornography, or “visual sexual stimuli” (VSS) to test erectile dysfunction. In fact, urologists and researchers have found that pornography viewing is an effective, noninvasive and reliable test for psychogenic erectile dysfunction. One fascinating study identified that the brain activities of men watching pornography are not significantly different in men with and without erectile dysfunction."

I just went to the doctor today on Jan 30, 2018 regarding this issue. She says that I'm not ejaculating enough therefore semen is building up and has to find a way to escape. She also called a urologist while I was in her office who confirmed what she said. They both recommended that I ejaculate 2-3 times per week. The urologist did not recommend surgery because it leaves scarring. I truly don't think ejaculating 2-3 times per week will get rid of the problem, because like others said it's retrograde ejaculation where semen gets caught in the urethra. This trip to the doctor did not help.

I liked this because you updated us, but I'm very surprised by the advice you received, and even more surprised that a urologist agreed.  I have no idea whatsoever what surgery they were not recommending.  What country are you in?

The NHS "sex myth buster" page says this: "Men produce sperm all the time, and if they don't ejaculate it is simply absorbed into their body."

It's rare that I'd go a week without ejaculating, but it's never caused a problem.  I've never had wet dreams btw, even when I was younger (I'm now 52).

I live in the United States. The hospital doesn't have the best reviews. My doctor said I can talk to another urologist in a month if I still have the same problem, which I know will be the case.

I would also think that the body would absorb the sperm.

I stopped trying to find out what is wrong, because all the doctors I saw had no idea and my Urologist suspected Prostate cancer and I figured that she was wrong. After getting a PSA test she decided that it probably wasn't PC. When she checked my prostate I screamed in pain. Man it hurt bad. That is another reason she suspected cancer, but really it is inflammatory bowel disease in my case. Why on earth semen comes out after urination is any ones guess. In my case, I think the inflammation of the rectum is putting pressure on my prostate causing small amounts of it to leak out. That is my best guess. For those that don't have IBD, perhaps your Prostate is enlarged due to BPH. Your urologist can check the size. If any one gets a good explanation of it from their doctor please share it. I am wondering myself. I am sure this isn't an uncommon problem.

It has been two years since my last comment on this topic and I still have the same issues. I have Ulcerative Colitis of the rectum and the only conclusion I can come to is the inflammation of my rectum is pushing on my Prostate causing this to happen. I had a PSA test done and it came back .24, so very low that cancer is unlikely. When my UC is under control I will see then if the issue goes away.

I’m in my  early 30’s and this has been happening for 6 or 7 years now. Thank you for posting this. This is the first forum I’ve found talking about this. For me, I can make it happen whenever I want to. To me it feels like a mild case of “blue balls” at times. Masturbation doesn’t help me. Though I’ve noticed, there will be a lot more semen the longer I go without an ejaculation. Sometimes I have to give a push after I pee (knowing I’m pushing ejaculate out) cause if not, a small burning sensation will be there (the I need to pee burn). But I guess in the end is go to the doctor because it due to a enlarged prostate? And you def want to get that checked out just to make sure it’s not cancer

I've been having this issue for about 4 years now. I have a slight painful and somewhat burning sensation when it happens. I also get the same sensation when I need to urinate and will sometimes get semen when starting to urinate. I am still a virgin so it isn't any transmittable disease. I have seen a urologist who had no idea what is going on there. When he checked my prostate, as soon as he put any pressure on it I could feel that I was going to have a discharge and told him. He saw it and said it is semen. It wouldn't be something I would bother with if it wasn't for the fact that sometimes I don't realize there was a very small discharge and when I go to urinate the next time, my urethra is closed off with dried semen. That really hurts until there's enough pressure to push through it. Now I check every time I go to make sure it's clear. (I try to anyways)

I also have had stones I have passed. 3 about 6 yrs ago, then nothing, and then 3-4 just in the last 6 mo. Very small ones thankfully. Still not a fun experience. I did notice that the seminal discharge quickly disappeared with no pain after one of the stones passed. It took about a week and then the pain and discharge returned. I have had an ultrasound and an MRI as well to try to find out what's going on. Both came back with everything being normal. No enlarged prostate or any issue with the structure of the urethra. They showed neither kidney stones nor bladder stones. They tested one of the stones and said that it is your run-of-the-day standard calcium stones. They did find calcifications on my prostate but I was told that was common and that they normally don't do anything about them as they normally don't affect anything.

My urologist retired and told me to start seeing one of his colleagues and that they "might have an idea because [he didn't] have any more ideas about what could be causing it". I decided to try not only a colleague but a different gendered one as well to see if another perspective all together might help. She finally convinced me to have a cystoscopy (urethral scope into the bladder) that I have been avoiding due to the pain I know I will feel after it.

I had a former PCP who didn't believe me when I told him about this and that I was a virgin and had me do an STD test. Since I had already urinated that day he did a swab. I had painful urination for over 30 hrs after it. He had trouble getting the cap on after the swab so they couldn't get any test results from it and asked me to come in for a urine test this time. I was seeing the urologist in a week and told him I'd wait. The urologist said that these symptoms have nothing to do with an STD and that testing for it was unnecessary on the PCP's part. (some of the primary reasons he's a "former" PCP) I REALLY don't want to experience pain like that down there again but we're at the last resort stage here. I also have Fibromyalgia so pain is a bit enhanced for me normally. I also have clinically high anxiety issues, so you might get a sense of why I put it off and why it will NOT be a "fun" experience.

My cystoscopy is set for next month in their office. I will likely not be feeling like updating you here for a few days and may have to wait and consult with them to get the results. I'll try to give a response as soon as I can after it even if they find nothing. I have some pain meds, from my foot surgery last summer, that I hope will help after it. Also a recent prescription for both an anti-inflamitory and muscle relaxer for my back. This is the only reason I finally agreed to the cystoscopy. Sorry this is so long but I figured I would let you know my situation and the testing I've had done up to this point. I know how annoying and unnerving it can be not knowing what's going on, so I really will try to post back here soon after it. Until then, take care.

Sorry. I just reread the first part of my post again. This started in 2012 for me so it's been 6 yrs not 4. Sorry for missing that before I posted it.

Honestly, I have had the same issue and I have a low PSA, so I stopped trying to figure it out. I was done having painful and invasive tests done. I just have grown to realize that this is now normal for me. I don't seem to have an enlarged prostate either. After sex I will be in pain for quite a while as well. My urethra burns and it feels like I have to go every second, so I stand over the toilet letting it drip out, until the feeling goes away. One common denominator that I can see is we both have immune diseases. I have Crohn's disease and my colon has been inflamed down in that area for over a year and I can't help but think it has something to do with that inflammatory response. The last time my Urologist tried pushing on my Prostate to take a sample I screamed in pain from it. Both of us were surprised, she was thinking I had Prostate Cancer because of the pain and that it was advanced because of it, but I then had a PSA done and it came back with a .24 so that is about as low as it gets. that is when I chocked it up to a side effect of IBD and stopped trying to figure it out. I hope you get some answers and please share as you may well help others with this problem.

Don't worry. I will post here after the cystoscopy. They had to move it back a little bit because of a scheduling conflict. It will be in the first week of April. I'm telling you this so that you can know about when I'll be able to reply. If I haven't posted by the end of the first week, please make a post here. My email is set up to notify me whenever someone responds to this discussion. That's what got me to check today and see the posts so I could participate.

Glad to find post. I've googled trying to find description of what I'm experiencing, and everyone's experience seems to be the same. I am taking Zoloft, and recently started experiencing the same problem. In the past, when trying another medication, I experienced a similar issue of spontaneous ejaculation when running - that was similar in that I wasn't aroused, and it just kind of snuck up on me and I could feel the pressure to push to discharge, or it would just dribble out. Now it's happening once or twice a day following peeing. I am 49 yo, not masturbating regularly, and not sexually active. Erections are not uncommon when i wake up, but frequency has diminished considerably in last few years. I do take several supplements in morning, though thinking going "cold turkey" off everything might be a worthy experiment.

Any diagnosis updates would be helpful should cause/condition be identified and corrected.

    Thank you.

I'm 29 this year, having the same problem and it just started a month ago.. I'm searching for a help via googling and find my self here.

I've been doing my own research for the past year and have come up empty handed. People have provided their own experiences on this website but I haven't seen a specific solution. I know one guy is getting a cytoscopy soon and will let us know his results. I've been to the doctor and spoke to a urologist who basically just said it's normal but I believe they are wrong. I'm 35 and never had this problem for 34 years.
