i cant take this pain either. I am on state funded insurance in California. I am not sure if my insurance will cover a surgery or if I need to get a referral for the surgery first. What is the first step I need to take to get a surgery to get rid of this fissure

Hi Jenny although I'm in the UK my consultant got me to try a gel first which has an anaesthetic in it to keep the muscles relaxed and hopefully reduce pain . It did work for a while but then got worse with a vengeance. So after that I needed the BOTOX injection which I felt like I'd never recover from but I'm on week 6/7 now and starting to actually feel loads better . Have a chat with him and explain your situation . It's only day surgery for BOTOX so you go home the same day but you'll need a couple of weeks or so rest afterwards and don't lift anything x

6 month into this, omg the pain is killing me. Not eating anything but soup and salad, still hurt like hell... no blood. Pain medication hardly helps.

Sucks, bad... hoping for a relieve... feel like dying!

      Hey

I feel your pain but I promise you there is light at the end of the tunnel. Try botox it’s massively helped me and given me my life back. Laxatives daily also really help to keep everything soft and not damage the fissure further x good luck

Hi, Can someone please help 😭. After childbirth with forceps and then constipation from fear of going a loo due to piles I got a fissure. I was given suppositories, ointment and fybogel. This worked for about 3 weeks then after one hard BM I’m back to square one. I no longer have piles but do have a skin tag there but it feels like there is a hard painful lump at the base of the skin tag that’s causing so so so much pain after and during BM then I’m left with bright red blood in stool and blood on tissue.. I’m using Lactulose 30mls daily  but i don’t know if it’s  not keeping me as soft as it should or maybe everything is such a mess I don’t know if the problem is piles, skin tag pain or fissure?!

      Hi Jennifer,

I'm sure most of us feel your pain . If child birth on its own isn't enough it's topped when you get after effects like this! Any lactose , fibrogel etc won't work on its own properly without a supporting high fibre diet and in this heat plenty of water /squash. Your insides have clearly taken a battering and although you have a new bundle of joy I can imagine you are quite stressed as you yourself are battling. Have a look at your diet see where you can bring in plenty of fibre for example I can't eat white bread anymore I have to have brown. Plenty of veg , fresh orange juice a couple of times a day is like a bomb. After each bm wash with warm water and pat dry . Keeping everywhere as clean as possible but treated gently will all help. Give these things a go if they make no difference then I would ask to be referred to consultant . Congrats on baby !!!

Hi Ginny, thanks for your advice. I did have a high fibre diet during pregnancy due to the piles but that sort of fell by the way sis once she was born! Il return to that however I do religiously drink 2ltrs of water per day without fail. I did see a consultant, I went private because I had such a bad labour I didn’t want to go back to the hospital. He gave me the suppositories, ointment (diltiazem2% to use 4 x a day for 3 months) that was at the biginning of June and it’s still hurting! When does it become chronic? I don’t understand because the consultant was so so sure this was going to work - do you know if there’s any other options before Botox etc?xx

      Hey

Totally feel your pain and having a little one to look after and feeling like this is hell. I take movicol one satchet of an evening and that’s helped loads with constipation. I tried all the creams for months but sadly to no avail :-( I then had the Botox in April but had bad reoccurrences and finally gave it and on Friday 13th July had the lis surgery. I’m currently in pain but really hope that this will finally be the end to this living hell. My advice to you if you are not happy that the creams are working please don’t leave it and go back and talk to your consultant xx I stupidly left mine after having a hemmoroidectomy in January 2015 after my first daughter, and then after the birth of my second daughter in November 2017 well let’s just say that finished me off and I’ve being living in hell since with the ridiculous spasms! Congrats on baby but please look after yourself and don’t suffer in silence and let things go on longer than they need to. How a simple tear can ruin your life I will never fully understand. Wishing you the best of luck xxx

I was given the gel and 6 weeks later I saw consultant again and was in for BOTOX 2 weeks after that. I thought my whole life had fallen apart. My youngest was 6 at the time but I have a disabled husband , 4 kids and a business to run and I couldn't even sit at my desk. The healing after BOTOX took about 8 weeks but to be fair it's been worth it !! Xx

Thanks Sarah and Ginny, I will have to go back 😭 I’m just unbelievably scared of the recovery, is it really as bad as people say? Also what do the spasms feel like? I know that sounds a strange question but I keep seeing it on here but not sure if I have them? Is it the pain I’m getting after a BM?xx

The spasms can happen any time . They are like shockwaves going from around your coxcis across to back of hips I found at worst times. Bm can bring them on easily. The recovery after BOTOX well it's not easy but it's worth it. I've got to go back in September and probably have another lot but at least the pain is very much under control without any painkillers. I react to anaesthetic and I'm allergic to morphine so I was pretty limited afterwards. If you need the BOTOX then have it . However make sure you have these things in place : all shopping done with plenty of fresh orange juice , u can't lift anything afterwards even a kettle u may find pulls in the wrong places.

Nothing at home to do you need total rest for 1/2 weeks minimum.

Boxes of laxido sachets ( best thing ever I found after a week of suffering on just laxative tablets once a day) the laxido you take 2/3 times a day.

Plenty of non fragranced toilet wipes but dabbling only no wiping you'll be sore. Hot water bottles are a must and plenty of tv to watch. If you have all that then get it done !! X

      Hey

The recovery isn’t great not going to lie but everyone is different. I spoke to Ginny a lot during my recovery and I seemed ok at first then went down hill then back up then 5 weeks of painfree then poorly again which is why I had the lis. Surgeon said on Friday mine was too chronic and Botox alone wasn’t going to fix it. My own fault for leaving it so long and suffering, that’s why I say if you catch it early enough and go back then you have every chance of success. Short term pain for a long term gain that’s the way I looked at it.

The spasms are hideous, we are not talking a little burn and sting after bowel movement we are talking a full blown pain that radiates up from you bum hole in to your arse canal like shooting pains that stop you from doing anything, they went into my noonie, down legs into my back it was horrendous and on a daily basis I’d think about suicude as i didn’t want to live like this. I exsisted I didn’t live! I was house bound and unable to drive through the pain. I’d get my babies up, feed, change nappies and then lay on floor and cry in pain, when I could get them to nap I’d jump in the hot bath that was my life, this is why I stress to you please go back and get something further done now If you haven’t got the spasms already. Wishing you all the luck in the World so you can enjoy your baby xxx

Thanks Sarah... I just don’t know, I’m using sudocreme and it still hurts when I have a BM but not as much - there’s a bit of blood there first time but if I go again the same day then there isn’t. I’m able to go without having to take pain relief after but not sure if it’s healing or will always be like this 🤷🏻???

All I can suggest if you are still having problems go back, try a different cream or Botox. If now got an infection following lis surgery and been backwards and forwards to the hospital so feeling pretty sorry for myself :-(

Mine has calmed right down.. I’ve been taking fybogel in the evenings, 2.5ltr of water, flax seeds and it’s really helped with the suppositories and cream. Hopefully this is it!

Oh no... that sounds painful, is it a case if antibiotics?x
