Take heart. I felt exactly the same way, doomed for life but things have improved. I still have problems but not as bad and I don't fear going to the bathroom as I used to. I had to go to four different doctors before I found a good, intelligent, experienced one who gave me a prescription for a compound of nitroglycerin and lidocaine. I had to go to a special drugstore that compounds prescriptions as most drugstores don't. It worked. It relaxes the anus. However in my case I fear I took it too long and now have very sensitive skin down there so once the cut/bleeding stops check with the doc if you can stop. I kept using it so I now have another problem of sensitive skin there but still not as bad as the fissure itself with cutting and bleeding.
The point is I kept looking for the right doctor. The 4th one was it for me. So don't give up! keep making appointments and keep reading this forum!

Hiii i know this is an old post but this discussion/thread seems to be very relevant right now for me. I'm 3-4 days post botox procedure and don't see any significant improvement yet... I don't have pain during BM but there is discomfort and irritation post that. there is a stinging feeling and it's itchy. ive been so so depressed for months now. how did botox help you and how long does it take

hello
I am due to go for a colonoscopy as i have had some blood. I am so worried about having it done and also what they find.
When i look i can see some splits but reading on the internet if you have more than one it could be anal cancer. I am panicking, has anyone had more than 1 fissure?
many thanks
