    Hi everyone smile

Does anybody on this post get constant racing thoughts where you feel like your brain will not shut up? And threw that it's really difficult to concentrate on reality let me know thanks smile x

yes, i used to get them all the time, they used to totally consume everything i did and i couldn't think straight at all, i'd stare into space and make mistakes with work etc, was awful. don't get that as much, do from time to time but i just go on the internet and clear my head with something that interests me and i feel okay then.  i used to be really bad with that and negative racing thoughts, used to make me ill with it, i'd look worried all the time and preoccupied, i totally feel for you, i understand where you're coming from, the racing thoughts was one of my main issues and was absolutely convinced my boyfriend was messing around and constantly checking his phone etc, i have terrible trust issues anyway from a previous relationship so that didn't help. still get the trust issue thing from time to time, no where near as bad as it used to be. but the sertraline has calmed me down alot with that and i don't get them hardly ever now :-) you will get there don't worry :-)

my memory was awful, couldn't remember anything people told me or said to me, which isn't like me, i ususally have a brilliant memory.  but memory loss is a sign of depression anyway.

      Hi

That's exactly the same I am i cant think straight on concentrate on anything which has led me to have time off work and university. No matter how much I try to distract myself I can't seem to get rid of it. It's one of my main issues and it's really horrible. Everything you have been threw I am experiencing now. Hopefully I will get there soon smile as I don't want to mess university up that's my main worry.

Good luck and hope the racing thoughts you have improve more and more everyday.

      hi dusty17,

glad to hear that you're anxiety has lessened with the CBT - it usually takes a good few weeks for the sertraline to start working for the depression. i'm not keen on people posting things like "don't do it", people are on this forum for advice and help with the meds that they are taking because they need help and support not instant negativity, and given they don't now your background, aren't really in a position to say that! everyones experience is different..........it's not desperation, it's taking the initiative to do something about it and have the courage to get the help in the first place!! how long have you been on the sertraline for??

      Hi smile

Thanks for the positive advice. I have been on 50mg of sertraline for 4 weeks then 100mg for 2 weeks I'm going too give the 100mg 2 more weeks then go back to my GP my biggest worry is since all this has been going on I have had no appitatite and I am 7 stone 6 and can't really afford to loose any more weight, I have to force myself to eat but it's very little.

      Thankyou so much

Hi, I was on sertraline 50mg for 6 weeks for anxiety and depression.I experienced quite a few of the common side effects. After 6 weeks it was increased to 100mg because i was still having some anxiety issues. i have been taking 100mg now for two weeks but i was told it can take at least 6 weeks to see any improvement. My mood has impoved and so as the anxiety although i still experience some of the symptoms occasionally on the whole im feeling much better, i hope things have improved for you x
