    Hello,

I hope you're okay on your journey so far.

I've been taking sertraline for just over a month now.

For the first week or so it was horrible, I couldn't sleep and felt sick a lot.

However, since then it's been fine. I think I'm a bit more sleepy but that's all and it has helped my mood.

Thanks for the reply. I've literally taken my first dose today but read a post on here that someone had side effect after a few hours. Part of me was like placebo but then the anxiety side of me was like what the hell! I'm going to die! Lol.

I think from what I've read and what a friend has said to me the first week is the worst.

      Again thanks for the reply

First day of sertraline here, too. I wasn't sure if I felt sick because I was anxious about the side effects all day or because I was actually experiencing the side effects haha.

I'm so scared to sleep in case I experience any nightmares.

What else makes the first week the worst, if anyone has any more experience?

I managed 2 weeks on the sertaline, at first the side effects are horrendous I won't lie and no you are feeling them not just thinking you are.

The wretching and nausea and cramps will go after a few days so hang in.

I got a numb type of detached feeling after a few days but if ya can handle them do so.

I got switched to cirtaloplan off the doctor when I saw him and tbh I've been worse off them and when I went back to my original doctor he says I shudnt have been swapped.

Sert are ruthless but if you can cope give it a go

I was the same and think it contributed to me having a panic attack last night.

I had the best night sleep ive had in a while but i was extremely tiered so could just have ben that.

I found it effected my speech. I felt very stuttery.

Ah, I noticed differences in my speech, too. Wasn't as lucky to have a nice nights sleep though haha, eyes refused to shut and all of the progress I've made with learning to sleep better over the past few years went out the window.

      What dosage are you on?

Oh wow, I'm a bit more nervous now haha!!

So far hasn't been as intense as your experience... but it's only day two so I don't want to speak too soon!

Definite problems with speech, vision and teeth grinding though, paired with being exhausted from the lack of sleep everything feels a bit odd.

I'm on 50mg. Taken my second dose today and haven't felt as bad so maybe it was placebo yeaterday.

From what I've been told though they only last a week so gotta stick it and see what it's like after. Keep talking on here and if there's anything I can help with I will. Its always scary starting new meds so if you got someone that can relate to what your going g through makes it less intense.

I felt majorly weird yesterday after my first dose. Quite surprised at how fast the side effects kicked in. I think in just gunna keep trying to remind myself that they will pass but its kinda hard when you have anxiety. Haha.

Think the whole cenus is that the first week is the worst.

Ive had citlapram before and they made me feel ten times worse than i already did. I think anti depeessant can work for some people and not for others, its just finding one that suits you.

Anyone been on sertraline for a long period of time?

Cirtaloplan I'm finding worse than the sertaline tbh. At least with sertaline I got numbness n detached, with these I can feel my emotions n anxiousness n panic n moods building up etc.

Whilst my panic attacks per se haven't been as bad I'm scratching self harming a lot worse n arms n hands look a mess coz use it as way to deviate the panic attacks. Frightening is, had real bad anxiousness other day and I havve spasms n jitters but found myself punching myself straight in cheek.

Wen saw doc he jus sed ride it out.

      Wish I'd stayed on sertaline

How long you been taking them? Why did you switch if you don't mind me asking?

I got really suicidal on cirtralpam. Like I've said before its finding one that suits you.

The 2nd doctor I saw while my own was away switched me to the Citalopram because he was concerned bowt the side effects I'd been getting off the sertaline I.e the spasms and jitters and the self scratching yet since I been on cirtaloplan the scratching and self harm has become a lot worse and the jitters etc have stayed.

Just half way through my 2nd week now and while I feel more emotion etc I don't know if that's a good thing as my head back to being a whir and a mess.

Not felt suicidal but if worse happens I do know n have thought exactly where I'm going to do it.

At least the diazies help well slightly in the sleeping process
