    Hi Joanne

Sorry to hear your not doing so great. Did you stop taking it cold turkey or did you wean off it slowly?

Thinking back I did reduce to 25 each day then every other day for a few wks before I stopped. I'm wondering if I should go back to 25 every other day ?

I recently posted comments of my own about SSRI'S and the fact that I am having serious problems stopping sertraline. My situation is a bit more complicated as I have developed fibromyalgia. However, having done a vast amount of research I would say that there are a tiny minority who don't have any problems coming off them. For most people they are extremely difficult to come off, particularly if the underlying issues relating to a person's depression and/or anxiety have not been resolved. They can reappear with a vengeance and you end up back on them. On top of this SSRI'S are renowned for withdrawal side effects which can be prolonged and very unpleasant. I am down to 25 mg now. MIND tell you to drop the dose by one tenth every couple of weeks but the problem is they don't produce a tablet in smaller doses and they don't have a liquid form. It's impossible to titrate properly so I have been to a 'legal high' shop and bought a weighing machine for £25 which lets me drop the dose by 5mg at a time. Not ideal because I am struggling with side effects so in addition to this I am doing alternate days e.g. .4gm (20mgs) one day then .5gm (25mgs)next day for 1 week, then .4 mgs for 2 days , then .5mgs for 1 day etc.

This sounds tortuous but believe me, having been what I've been through and still am, I would rather do it this way than chance it. My heart goes out to all of you in the same predicament - I have decided 9 years is enough and I am trying meditation and yoga with huge benefit. There is no easy Joanne but you have definitely come off too fast. If it's unbearable up your dose again and then, when your mood has settled, work out a weaning off regime - if you have faith in your GP do i
