4 weeks on 50mg and nearly 4 weeks on 100mg of Sertraline. What shall I do? Give it more time on this dose? Up my dose after four weeks? Or change medication?

Why are you not feeling any better? I'm just sat in the doctors now after 3 weeks I'm a quivering wreck no sleep, no appetite and feel really low!

so how are you feeling, you've done the same as what i did, i started on 50 then increased after 4 weeks to 100, i think after 6 weeks on 100 i was then increased to 150 as i had a major dip that lasted 2 weeks at the end of the 100 dosage. are you feeling like it's not improved at all??

Hi, it's really strange because I take the ta let's at night and when I take the tablet I feel like I can see the light at th end of the tunnel and start to perk up about and get back to my normal self but as soon as I wake up in the morning I'm back to square one I don't know weather I am coming or going. I haven't really got any side effects the few I do have I can cope with. Do you think k I should give it 4 or 6 or 8 weeks before I ask them to increase my does

yes i understand where you're coming from, i was the same after 4 weeks, i was also on 50mg, i got back into my GP and she suggested i increase to 100mg, i had a really good couple of weeks on that and then i hit the bottom again, i suffered quite alot during that time, with very up and down moods, felt worse than when i was on 50mg at the beginning, then gradually got good days back but not many at all, i was more down than i was up, so i went back again after about 6-8 weeks on 100mg and asked if i can increase to 150mg and i've been on this dose ever since and it's settled right down, this is obviously the correct dose for me because i haven't had any paranoia, racing thoughts or feeling depressed for a good few weeks now :-) i would get back onto to your GP dusty, i don't think you're on the right dose for you :-)

hi when u increased were u feeling ok? ie any side effects? it is coming up to 8 wks next wk  for me+ still on 50mg and i really have to decide what to do next.Do i increase dosage (even though i feel sick + generally awful) or do i come off sert + start again ( 5wks of coming off then 4 wks seeing if new one is gonna work)Thing is it aint all been awful on sert so far-i've had a few days of feeling great then come crashing back down to earth).Ideas?

yep, that's what happened to me, had a great day or days, and then from nowhere i crashed and ended up feeling worse than before!! all i can say is stick with it as it does settle down and level out.  didn't get any side effects apart from migranes and loss of apetite, had a couple of urgent trips to the loo but nothing major.  if you feel in yourself that the 50mg isn't really helping get increased by your doctor, i did and never looked back since :-) hope that helps :-)

hi when u increased were u feeling ok? were u "stable" or going thro gd days/awful days?

a bit of both to be honest, it takes time for the meds to get into your system, i'd say a noticed a change about 3-4 weeks after my increase, but don't let that put you off, everyone is different and you might be okay increasing :-)

Hi, sounds like you've been on a roller coaster ride just like me. I'm going to go back to my GP this week and suggest 150 me and hopefully that's going to do a miracle for me just like it has for you smile hope you stay on the right road from now on smile

Hi, when I increased to 100mg the first few days I felt terrible then the side effects settled down. As disgusting as this sounds the only side effects that's stuck is diareah. You need to give sertraline 8 weeks to settle into your system as you have been on the 8 weeks I suggest going back to the GP and getting your dose increased stick to sertraline for now as I have heard very successful stories from them that's what I'm going too do I'm going to go back to my GP get 150mg and if that doesn't settle suggest changing medication. Good Luck and keep me posted smile

i take my meds first thing in the morning, sometimes making the switch can change your mood quite alot from what i've seen on here, i've only ever taken mine first thing in the morning, plus, i've heard alot of ppl on here saying that taking their pill at night time gives them a terrible jittery feeling and insomnia when they are trying to sleep.  when i'm really tired at night and just nodding off on the sofa, i get terrible electric shocks running up and down my legs, like they need a good stretch out kind of feeling, very annoying indeed!! :-)

Do you take your medication at the same time as I take mine at different times my GP told me that no matter what time you take it if it's going to work it's going to work. I also have problems with loosing my appitatite. How did you cope with that

hi dusty - yes same time every morning, i just like to do it that way because i was having trouble with it to start with so i'm quite regimented with it, it's just my thing, if i take it the same time every day i feel more level headed.

my appetite also went, lost over a stone in weight, but i've got it back again, i train all the time though so haven't put the weight back on :-)
