Severe dizziness and feeling off balance. Need advice..

Hi, I'm new here and decided to join after googling severe and chronic dizziness and it brought me here and I saw there was some very good advice.

Back in May last year I started having little dizzy spells that would last a few seconds at a time and it would happen several times a day. I saw my GP who just said it was probably due to my anxiety I was suffering with at the time. It kept getting worse over the next week and I started to feel off balance. I returned to my GP who gave me the Epley Maneuver and I felt it helped a tiny bit and was told to repeat it at home to get full benefit as it can take a few goes to work properly. Well it didn't help at all.

A few days later I was in my local town with my partner and while holding onto him as I was feeling off balance my hearing went for about 15 seconds and I felt dizzy. I visited my GP who checked me over and said we would keep an eye on it.

Fast forward 2 months-

I had got rid of my anxiety without meds but with a lot of intense CBT and talking to a nhs let's talk nurse every week on the phone.

And I'm happily pregnant again.

Dizziness and feeling off balance still happening.

It would come in bouts and it will be so severe I would have to lie down as I felt at times I could pass out then it would either die off completely or manageable so I could live normally.

Kept seeing my GP and was told as I was pregnant there was nothing they could do and it was probably pregnancy related even though it started before I fell pregnant and if after having my baby it was still there they would look into it.

2 weeks after having my baby I saw my GP and was told to wait until my 6wk check up and we would discus it then as my hormones would be settled by then.

At my 6wk check up we discussed it and was told to wait until I've had a few periods so we know for sure my hormone levels are back to normal.

My baby is now 4months old and it's still happening.

5wks ago I was out in town again and mentioned to my partner I was feeling a bit dizzy then I suddenly felt faint and my dizziness felt a bit worse. Since then I saw a different GP for my dizziness and also for chronic pain I get. She sent me for a load of blood tests to rule other conditions out and she would refer me for my dizziness. Everything came back fine except my ferritin and folate levels were low so now on meds for both which is horrible as I have a medication phobia!

Also my b12 levels were on the low end of their range but told this was fine (mine were 200 and their range is 180-1000).

So at our follow up appointment she prescribed me Cinnarizine for the dizziness and said after my next blood test in 3months time if I'm still getting dizziness she would refer me.

Last week I was so down because of being stuck indoors for 5wks and I want to enjoy days out with my 5 children but can't.

I phoned my GP again and told her I'm so fed up and I need it sorted so she's agreed to see me tomorrow morning. She wants to check me over and then decide who to refer me to and she suggested trying the Cinnarizine.

I've had a cold/virus that started Tuesday night and by Wednesday I could hardly move as I was so poorly and my muscles and joints ached and on Friday my dizziness and off balance came on a lot worse.

Also noticed that my first bout of dizziness started after the same cold/virus.

People have suggested this all sounds like Labyrinthitis..

I do have a fullness in my ears, my partner says my hearing isn't the best but that's only if someone talks really really quietly but it's always been this way.

My ears randomly pop often, I have ringing in my ears often and months back when it all started I would get a whooshing sound in my ears that lasted 10-20 seconds.

The worst thing is this has all started my anxiety up over this weekend 😔

I just know my GP will make the excuse of it being my anxiety if I tell her how anxious I have been this weekend and how down its made me.

I've been free from anxiety for nearly a year and the feeling of it returning is very distressing.

My other health conditions are Asthma and migraines.

I have suffered with migraines for around 12yrs. This past year they haven't been as often or lasted as long as they used to.

Sorry for the long essay.. I just need to get it all out.

Thanks, Kim.

So I have my ENT appointment coming in the post and should be here by the end of the week and I asked my GP to refer me back to the nhs mental health services and they phoned today and I have an appointment on Tuesday coming. It'll be nice to have the support there whether is the dizziness which has triggered the anxiety or the other way around x
