I have started taking magnesium taurate, this is helped tremendously. I take one in the morning and one midday, since I have started this along with my potassium I have had the onset of one inner thigh cramp about three weeks ago, I will take that over several a night any day of the week.

This is truly the first thing that I found that has helped me at all, I purchased mine from Amazon, The manufacturer is cardiovascular research, I believe someone else had previously posted about this

Really hoping this is the final solution, best wishes for everyone on here

Just had my first experience with inner thigh cramping last night. Moved to the guest bedroom so I wouldn't wake my husband. Later, after he left for work, I had another attack. It was so bad that I called him at work. Felt like I was saying "goodbye " because I actually thought I was about to die. Tried walking around, but I collapsed. Truly hope it never happens again.

I have started taking Cardiovascular Research Magnesium Taurate Capsules, I have tried other magnessium, they have not worked. Someone else mentioned this in a previous post, I was desperate so I ordered it from Amazon, I take one pill twice a day, leg cramps are rare now, this has been a godsend for me

I'm so sorry.I just now saw your comments, things have been crazy, I've sat at the hospital for most of the last 2 weeks with my husband. You are so right, it hurts so bad you feel like you could die.I've been getting them everywhere. I just want to pass out cold so I don't have to be in that much pain,to say it's unbearable is a gross understatement. I can't believe how many people get these & there's no explanation or cure.I hope you don't get anymore, I wouldn't wish them on anyone.

I have had kidney stones that many say are equal to child birth, but the inner thigh cramps went way past that pain. The sweats, and shakes and nausia etc were also unbearable. I have good news though. A friend suggested that I go to  "the vitemin shop" after about a year of trying things that did not work because they always have someone there that has a degree in nutrition. The person there said he also gets them, and sugested Magnesium oil in a spray bottle. It is 100% magnesium. I sprayed it on the inner thjigh when I felt one trying to come on. I rubbed it in and after about 15 minutes the sensation that one was about to happen totally went away. I now use it along with 750 mg of magnesium citrate and so far, no cramps. He also suggested that I take potassium, but not with the magnesium (One in the morning and one in the evening) because they don,t staurate well when taken at the same time. I am so grateful.

Its been 2 months since I last wrote.  I have not had any major cramps since then.  I am pretty sure I am on to a winner with this formula.  I take 2 x 500mg magnesium - 2 x D3 1000iu with vit k2 - 1 x calcium 333mg every day.  I drink 6 cups of tea/day (which is a diuretic I know) however I always last thing, before I switch the light out, drink 1/2 bottle of water (about 400ml).   Please try this.....it took about 2 weeks to notice a difference and I have been taking these now since about July last year about 5 months.  Good luck

I will certainly try this.I have been getting severe excruciating muscle pulls & spasms everywhere.Everytime I barely reach or stretch to do anything, in my stomach, in my sides, behind my knee & up the back of my leg, even under my chin & into my neck,& my arms, just about everywhere.I'll be the first one to tell you I don't drink enough (hardly any sometimes) of just water. These are so unbearable it almost takes my breath away& I can't help but cry hard.Thank You for the reply, I will certainly try it as soon as I can get to a store, I'm being a caregiver 24/7 right now,& trying to take care of myself on hardly no sleep.I can't wait to try it. Thanks again, TLJ53

Quinine is only used if a absolutely necessary and not for leg cramps according to my doctor because it has too many serious side effects. However, that very same Dr said to drink 1/2-3/4 cup of tonic water every evening for leg cramps. Why? Because it has quinine in it. I hate the taste but it really works. No more leg cramps. Check with your Dr. first. There could be drug interactions, even with vitamins , herbals and otc medications. Don't take it lightly just because it's tonic water.

I'll try to answer you again, I did once & it put my answer somewhere else, the only relief I ever got was when Walmart used to sell "Leg Cramps with quinine"pills. They still have the leg cramps bottle but it no longer has quinine in it.I also know alot of my problem is not drinking enough just plain water.I get these god awful spasms everywhere, it seems like everytime I reach or stretch I get one, it's not just at night.Thank You for your input.I can't believe how many people have this problem.

Hi TLJ53, Wow! Thank you for your post!

I have just had another spasm this time in both legs at the same time. The pain is excruciating and it's like you can't even move when it happens. I have asked GP and Physiotherapists and get blank looks each time.

But thankfully I decided to google this morning once the spasms stopped and came upon your post. After reading your post and most of the replies it reminded me about roughly when I started getting these spasms 2001. (in 2002 I was diagnosed with a tumour in my left adrenal gland " Pheochromacytoma " - with symptoms of high blood pressure and excessive sweating) But until now I have never put two and two together as the spasms are in my thighs and the tumour in my adrenal gland. I have a follow up appointment with my Endocrinologist in a few weeks I will definitely asking him about it first!

I hope from me finding your post and that my light bulb moment may help you and others. With kind regards and hopefully now a remedy, Many many thanks - Cheers Angela

I get these everywhere now, inner thighs, up & down both legs, front & back, in my sides, in my stomach, even in my neck before, it makes you think something horrible is wrong with you,& the pain is so excruciating. I'm at a loss. It is so unbearable.

Again it seems I've missed to connect the spasms in my sides, neck and hands going like Edward Scissorhands. It's hard to relax after the spasms isn't it? Just in case you bring it on. I'll let you know once I see my Endocrinologist if you like. Cheers Angela.

Hi TLJ53, I can feel the kink in my left thigh (worst affected the other day lasting about 10 minutes) so since then I have been taking a 2.5mg antenex tablet and 2 panadol at bedtime to relax my legs. The kink is there like its just waiting 😯. Good luck (by the way I do drink a lot of water so not sure if that's a reason to not get it)

Yes, someone else had said they already drink alot of water too, so I guess that's not an answer, at least not by itself.I hust wish there was a simple answer. I just pray for relief for all of us.Thank you for your input, Take care.

Did your Endocrinologist think there was any correlation to the adrenal glands and the cramps? I was told when I had special bloodwork drawn, that I needed to take adrenal medicine and it was sold over the counter. I took it for a time, but havent' taken it in a while. I have been cured from the cramps by taking 500mg calcium chews (3x's a day, after every meal.) These are sold by Bariatric Advantage which sells vitamins for people that have had gastric bypass. Their vitamins are better absorbed than normal ones and quick acting. I also take powdered magnesium with juice about once a week. I have not had any cramps since I started this regimen. I hope this helps those suffering because no know needs to suffer like that!
