Severe persistent shortness of breath/ Metallic taste after breathing exercises

Im 21 year old male and I have been writing about my condition before, but last two days shortness of breath went out of control.

I have been working on myself and saw improvement in other symptoms but breathing. Breathing is worse. The pulmoraly ( lung capacity etc.)tests I had were alright, my ekg ok, blood ok, my oxygen level in blood near 100%, blood pressure was 105/60, heartbeat usually doesnt go above 80 if im still.

I had this problem for more than 4 months now and it got worse last few days and I simply dont get it why. My anxiety was improving and then I suddenly like feeling like suffocating. This is persistent. Because of that my anxiety is going back to pretty much severe anxiety.

I am trying lip pursed breathing and after intensly inhaling and exhaling my breathing "tasted" and felt like something metallic ( like blood in mouth) even though there was no blood.

I also feel like a weight in throat and chest area. Should I be concerned ? I really am because it feels like im going to suffocate one day.

One more thing. I sleep pretty much normaly idk how. I can also do sports and my breathing during that wont get worse. Few times it kind of felt like a small relief but not sure.

Im on vacation currently so I wont be visiting my doctor for at least a week. What should I do ? Can it be anything alarming?

Having such a similar problem! It's so scary! It started a month ago and I haven't gone one day yet without it. I can run for 40 min on the treadmill, do hot yoga, and lift weights and breathe fine but have trouble getting deep breaths just sitting down or do something simple like walking and talking. I'm so sick of it. I also have a heavy feeling in my chest, heart palpitations, and chest pains. Went to the cardiologist and she says my heart is fine so my primary doctor is trying to figure out what the heck is going on. I don't even feel anxious at all until after the symptoms start and I get freaked out. Hope we both find relief and soon!

It all started the same for me too. I used to not be able to get full breaths in the beginning before I got all other symptoms. It was later on that I got anxiety symptoms and that is why it hard for me to accept that I have anxiety. Can you get deep breaths during sports if you kind of force it ?

Yea if I force it. By now I've figured out I'm not going to stop breathing or suffocate but it doesn't stop it from being annoying and scary all the same. Then this week I got a cold which made it even worse. I wonder if it's allergy related

Hey...just saw this thread. Any updates on your condition? I've been experiencing the same exact symptoms since July 16th. Pretty frustrating and scary at times. Hope you've found some relief?

I've seen a dozen of pulmonologists, I've been to many other specialists too and nobody found anything. The last doctor told me that it is anxiety and that I have to threat that to get relief and that I actually have hyperventilation syndrome. He said that I don't get enough CO2 in my body and that I'm constantly over breathing without knowing it.

He also showed me a few exercises I have to do every day which should help. I will send you on PM. Maybe it will help you too. It haven't helped me yet, but it is true that I just started.
