Severe tingling, burning + pain in both legs

Hi everyone,

I've been having severe tingling and pain in both my legs (toes, feet, calves and knees) for about seven months now. On running a few tests, I found six months ago that I was deficient in vitamins B12 and D, which was set right. The neurologist said my symptoms were due to the deficiency, however, the condition has steadily worsened in spite of the deficiency being rectified.

Here are the tests I've done:

Vitamin B12 and D: Levels stable for the last 4 months

Thyroid: Normal

Sodium, calcium, potassium: Normal

Iron: Normal

Bloodwork, ANA, dsDNA all normal.

Rheumatoid factor negative.

The pain is worse at night and while lying down. The docs have told me I've got Restless Leg Syndrome. I took Pregabalin for about a month and Ropinirole for ten days but both didn't help with the tingling - in fact the side effects were terrible.

I'm not on any medication as of now and the pain + tingling has worsened, now almost constant, like there's electricity shooting up my legs all the time. I'm unable to do anything physically exerting like climbing stairs. Walking makes my feet hurt terribly (which I believe is not the case in RLS?).

Does anyone have suggestions to confirm the diagnosis? Is there something I'm missing? I'm due for an LS MRI, but the docs have said it is most likely to come clear.

Thanks a ton!

I have been experiencing similar symptoms and I don't know what is going on .  I have pain not only in my legs that run all up and down my thighs and legs, but also at the soles of my feet, the palms of my hands, fingertips and toes.   my hands and wrist hurt, and the pain is also shooting up and down my arms.  I also experience pain all up and down the right side of my back.   I feel like my entire body is scream.  another way to descibe the aching pain is when you put your hand of ice  for a while that aching shooting pain.   I have been told my Vit D is low and so is my B 12.   but that can't be it.   I have due for more blood work tomorrow.   Along with this eposiod that has been going on for almost two weeks I am experincing numbing in  my hands and feet . like blood not circulating so tomorrow I will also get test on my heart for blood circulation or blockage.   I cant imagine what is going on   Any suggestions   what other test should I have?

I have been suffering with something like this for years! I have just turned 25 years old. I first went to the doctors aged 19 to try and get it sorted but she told me I need to do more exercise (I didn't drive at the time walked everywhere and also attended a gym) when I returned a few years later I was referred to physio. That didn't help so was then sent in for an MRI scan. The nuerologist said 'your scan ld are done there's nothing there' the pain has begun getting worse and I too suffer with it mostly at night! I feel like I constantly have to stretch my legs or keep them elevated. It's a horrible feeling that keeps me awake and uncomfortable but one that I am unable to describe starting from my hips right through to my toes.

Hi Marie, thanks for posting...when you say nerve damage to your spine - what you do mean and what happened? My neuropathy symptons started very suddenly after a caesarian.  I can feel an area in my back, I have low back pain and pins and needles (tingling) in my lower legs and feet and toes...sometimes in my hands and sometimes in my saddle area.  Now I'm getting pain from hips to toes. Started 9 months ago. Think I have sciatica too. I think it's all from damage from the epidural/spinal. Can you explain yours?

Both legs and feet? Mine is in both legs.  I have a slight disc bulge at L4/L5 apparently, I just found out today. Do you think that could cause tingling in both feet and legs?

it is possible jodie I had disc L4 L5 removed and I get awful pains and burning

Everyone needs to look into the possibility of having Fibromyalgia, if you are dealing with many many symptoms all relating to nerve damage, this could be your answer
