Severe tingling, burning + pain in both legs

Hi everyone,

I've been having severe tingling and pain in both my legs (toes, feet, calves and knees) for about seven months now. On running a few tests, I found six months ago that I was deficient in vitamins B12 and D, which was set right. The neurologist said my symptoms were due to the deficiency, however, the condition has steadily worsened in spite of the deficiency being rectified.

Here are the tests I've done:

Vitamin B12 and D: Levels stable for the last 4 months

Thyroid: Normal

Sodium, calcium, potassium: Normal

Iron: Normal

Bloodwork, ANA, dsDNA all normal.

Rheumatoid factor negative.

The pain is worse at night and while lying down. The docs have told me I've got Restless Leg Syndrome. I took Pregabalin for about a month and Ropinirole for ten days but both didn't help with the tingling - in fact the side effects were terrible.

I'm not on any medication as of now and the pain + tingling has worsened, now almost constant, like there's electricity shooting up my legs all the time. I'm unable to do anything physically exerting like climbing stairs. Walking makes my feet hurt terribly (which I believe is not the case in RLS?).

Does anyone have suggestions to confirm the diagnosis? Is there something I'm missing? I'm due for an LS MRI, but the docs have said it is most likely to come clear.

Thanks a ton!

Im so sorry for your problem, been there....still there. Plus I have restless leg syndrom. I believe the restless leg is caused by the burning and tingling feet and your asleep trying to deal with the discomfort. THATS ME TOO. I finally went to a neurologist who orderd a test.(I cant remember the name) The lab tecnician used a electrolisis and measured the nerve responses. He tested the bottom and tops of my feet and continued up to my knees. RESULT: Neuropathy

That was decades ago. I have developed numbness on the bottom of my feet andpain in my toes. When I wear shoes, especially when I wear slippers. At first I bought Diabetic socks.$$ have worked down to certain regular ones.

I have also finally found a foot cream at Rite Aid that gives me relief.

I have not been to specialist year, but went to primary dr today for routine checkup. Talked with him about peripheral neurophy. I have been low on B12 since 2011 and borderline diabetic. He thinks these 2 things might have caused my issues. He ordered some blood tests. One for for Lyme dense. Also upped my Gabapenton and suggested Magnesium and Alpha-Lipoic Acid. We'll see how that goes.

The name of the foot cream is Magnilife Pain relieving Foot Cream.

It says right on the lable "Relieves Nerve Pain" I started out using it full strenghth with socks on at bedtime also daytime if needed. Especially after bath or shower. Don't forget the socks,

Now after about a year I use it mixed with Gold Bond rough & bumpy skin daily therapy cream. I use about half and half + my socks after shower and bedtime.

I truly hope this will help.

what price pain??? I know is costly and frankly I dont know if it works but if it was me I would at least try it and see and if it does then its a decision as to how much you need and how long a tub will last really. In the 17 years I have had MS I have tried just about everything to reduce my pain levels which are severe. If I could afford it I would go for stem cell treatment in Mexico but that is a cost well out of my league

try googling this as its seems to do the same thing but a lot cheaper

Try rubbing your feet with coconut oil and s the difference. Ive had this for a long time now restless leg syndrome and tingling in my feet giving me restless nights. I did all that doctor thing nothing really worked out so i thought a little bit as to why this is happening and found that my legs go dry so i tried once this oil treatment and ever since i had good nights sleep. Try and give me a feed back

Is it the coconut oil or the massage that does the trick I wonder?

get your GP to prescribe capsaicin cream (has capiscum in it).  I put it on with a cottonwool pad (to avoid getting it on my fingers) and then trap the pad on my toes with socks.  I find this really helps at night when the pain in my feet is worst.

Thanks Kersey,My discomfort in my feet and lower is not so much of severe pain as that of a bad case of sunburn, sometimes more one day and less another. It is there 24/7 but at night in bed it is at its worst.About once a week I have to pop a sleeping tablet to get to sleep. During the day its always there but by now I have come to ignore it. Thanks for the advise.I shall try it.......Regards Allen

Sorry but I tried capiscum cream and it can be very dangerous.

I ended up with severe bronchospasms after a tiny amount.

Hi Capiscum is contraindicated in people with asthma or respiratory disease so caution is needed.

      Take care   xxxx
