I have been in this medication for 6 days today & I'm already contemplating coming off it, the side effects are awful already.... I feel dizzy, nauseous & have brain for.. . All of which I can cope with at the moment....i won't beat around the bush , last night me ^ my partner made love & I was devastated that I couldn't orgasm, we gave an amazing sex life & for this to happen is a major blow to me as I've been prescribed 50mg sertraline for depression & anxiety but the fact is I've never been happier in my life but have had bouts of unexplainable crying & mood swings I'm also taking hrt so things have all happened at once .....plz tell me there's light at the end of a very dim tunnel.....any help/advice would be a godsend xxx

Hi Susan. Not sure about the sexual side effects as I haven't run into any problems there as of yet but the other things are definitely normal and usually stop after 2-3 weeks. Hang in there!!

HI frankie I’ve been bk on paroxatine 20mgs for the past 4 wks with little progress. And still feeling really anxious, shaky and feeling detached, my legs are like jelly and I feel so scared. Any advice or reassurance please

I'm on 100mg Sert and after about a month and a half I still have those side effects too but they've definitely become more manageable. The anxiousness seems to only really be in the mornings and the shakiness seems to go along with that and subsides in the early afternoon most days. It's annoying but hang in there Debra!! I've found that breathing exercises help calm my nerves and plenty of water as well.

Thanks for ure reply frankie . It’s just nice to have a bit of reassurance. When do you think the tablets will start to kick in properly x

I've been told it could take anywhere from a month to 3 months. From what I gather it's a slow process for some of us but others are feeling better after 4-6 weeks. My primary care physician told me it's really just figuring out the proper dosage that kinda drags the process on and I definitely believe that heh. Hopefully we're just slowly getting there!!

Hi Jenna, thankyou for replying I'm new on here & can't always see any responses, I can't understand if your already having problems in that department the doctor has upped your dose to 100mg, I'm persevering for a while longer as I have a very understanding partner who is willing to do what it takes to help me, but sex is very important to us & I don't want it to become an issue....plz feel free to msg me anytime to let me know how your getting on xx

Hi Susan he has said that he wants to try me on 100mg and has referred me for therapy I have suffered most my life with anxiety and depression from the age of about 9 I’m now 34 I’ve tried therapy before it’s really hard for me because it’s so painful to talk about past issues. He has said that loss of labedo isn’t a side effect of sertraline but it obviously is because I have read countless people’s concerns on the internet. I’m going to stick with the sertraline 100mg for the next two months and go to therapy as suggested hope it works. I hope you get things sorted out sex is a very important part of a relationship it’s what makes you close. Take care xx

Hi again Jenna, I 2 have a lot of baggage from the past to deal with & am waiting for counselling & I think my problem is mostly anxiety related the only thing is I'm actually really happy in my life atm & my partner is amazing so for me to start this medication & for it to basically kill me from the waist down is definitely going to affect my mood & make me more anxious......i feel at a total loss as to what to do.......& I've read also that this is a very common problem 😐 take care & keep me updated xx

Hi Susan. What time of day do you take it? I've been on it a few weeks now and find I am much better when I am almost ready for another dose, so I take it in the morning and morning sex is much better. Also you are in the early days sonyku probably feel a bit yukky and not much in the mood anyway but this should hopefully pass.

Hi Kerry, I've been taking my tablet at 4pm in the afternoon but after only 8 days in I have gone from really enjoying sex to not really being bothered....maybe I should start taking it first thing , would you mind telling me how bad your side effects were as I'm ready for throwing in the towel already xx
