Hello Patti, I am checking in on you to see how you're going. Sorry for taking so long to get back to you but i have been struggling with a flare myself. I was also told you have to be free of a shingles outbreak for some time before receiving the vaccination. Maybe it depends on where a Dr got his degree, lol. It amazes me how the medical fraternity is quite happy for someones quality of life be in ruins. When you report the truth their care factor is zero. That has been my experience because many do not believe reoccuring shingles happens as often as it does. I hope you have help Patti. Stay strong, you are not alone.

Hi Kitty, thanks for our response. I am getting over the shingles for now...but as I said before...they come and go...what confuses me is ...They never seem to go away and I dont get very many of them..a few on my lower back and my butt.and they are not in one spot.. on my right side...and they do not really hurt..just itch..but I get really exhausted. All the pictures online I see...people get a lot of them...not sure if you read all my post...but the dr wanted me to take the antiviral for the rest of my life...they make me sick...and bad side effects....I had a R.N tell me..just to take them when I get the shingles..to my understanding .....you have to take them before you get the outbreak..but I dont really have any symtoms until I get the outbreak. All the medical professional people tell me .you dont normally get them back..it seems as though...like you mentioned...they have no clue about shingles..like it is a new disease....as of now..They are scabbing over and I am not so tired...I am hoping they dont come back..as I said I have had these off and on for over a year now..If you dont mind me asking..when you get them.do you get a lot and how often..thanks again for your reply..Have a great day!!

I usually only get one or two red spots and a lot of times they don't even blister. Sometimes I don't get a rash at all, just the fatigue, headache, itchiness, pain, insomnia, and sometimes sore throats and chest congestion. I hope this helps

Dear Shoe Lady. You should be a good candidate for the zoster vaccine.

I had small breakout my massuse caught. Went to dr in a week and a skin test was taken to verify shingles. The dr then gave the vaccine for zoster virus. It has helped me tremendously less breakouts and slows down the duration and seems to lesson all the symptoms you and most of us experience with shingles . It has helped control stinging, sore throats, headaches and red spots ,fatigue and not to mention the mind blowing extreme itching

There is some relief for all of us. I hope this helps many here. This is a disease not well understood I think it really depends on the dr you see.

The first dr I saw 2 days later after massuse identified the rash gave me the anti vitals, lidocaine supply and said I will need to take virals within 48-72 hours after first sign of shingles.

Then the second doc immediately gave me the Shingles immunization a week or so later.

That was my experience and I am thankful the second doc was up on the protocols for shingles and the administered the vaccine.

I have been contemplating wether I should wait for the new vaccine, since it's efficacy percentage is sooo much higher than the exsisting one. It's suppose to be here soon, but I'm becoming impatient. Thanks for the advise. Everyone's experiences and knowledge helps?
