Shingles on labia.... help!

Posted , 48 users are following.

I was informed that the burning, painful sore on my labia is shingles. I have scoured the internet and have not found this location to be very common. It's been 3 weeks and 1 round of anti virals. The sore has healed but there is a hard lump where the blister was and it still really hurts! I'm not sure what to do. I'm pretty sure I have some nerve damage as my left side gets tingly from the sore both up and down my body. Gabapentin 100 hasn't offered much relief. I'd really like to know if this will go away or if I should be seaking more medical care.

Thanks.

im so glad i found this thread...about a month ago, I got my moderna shot... period started a couple days later and when it ended, i started to notice my butt was itchy but it was only itchy on the left side. thought i had pinworms so i took otc meds as precautionary. two days later, i decided to go see my doctor to get it diagnosed... she said it may have been fungal or bacterial infection so we did some tests (still waiting for results) and she prescribed me some meds to combat fungal and bacterial infections. it has been a week and it was not working BUT during this one week, i would notice that my buttcrack was very sensitive to touch and it would be painful... i looked down there on my left buttcrack and noticed some blisters/rashes forming. then i thought it must be shingles but there is no way it will pop up on that location. took a picture of it and sent it to doctor and she told me it was shingles. presribed me antivirals for shingles and to use antihistamines (benadryl) if the itch is unbearable. i did notice that the rash was slowly spreading down my buttcrack and up my left labia... it is itchy and painful... but after taking some reishi mushroom powder and eating foods low in arginine, im feeling a lot better. have not had a good night sleep for two weeks now since the itch started...there was another forum that talked about flu shot and getting the shingles... my doc said there is no connection but while reading through that forum i wonder if my moderna vaccine could have triggered shingles... who knows. but knowing that im not alone in getting shingles down there in my private area gives me a sense of comfort although i dont wish this upon anybody. i apologize if my story is off tangent to this thread but i wanted to share my story and i will use other peoples recommendation about using ice pack to stop the itchiness. oh and im 29 years old

I'm extremely happy I found this! I had the same shot 2nd dose,, same age, and the same exact thing happened to me. Right to a T! I went and got tested thinking it was a herpes virus and still pending results but the outbreak is only on the left side of my butt and labia. I am still in pain and prescribed an antiviral.

omg. i know i was reading somewhere that doctors are debunking the covid shot to the trigger of shingles. there is no study on this yet but wow. dont try to scratch it. i can say that the rashes on my left crack is slowly healing but now my labia is itchy (only at night when im trying to sleep)... i take two benadryl before i go to sleep and it helps a little, along with an ice pack on my vagina. update me on what you are using to relieve your symptoms. but again wow! we will get through this! ❤

I got my first dose of Pfizer 2 weeks ago and now I'm experiencing the same thing! I know doctor's are debunking it but I feel like I've seen a lot of people saying they got shingles soon after the vaccine. I went this past Wednesday and the doctor thought it was razorburn and prescribed me antibiotics and lidocaine as I had recently shaved with a dull razor. I felt like something wasn't right Thursday night because I was having a severe burning and itching and an incredible amount of pain (which I now think is nerve pain as it's almost always in my labia). I went back yesterday and the doctor took one look and said I think it's shingles and took a culture and started me on anti virals. I'm only on 2 nights of the worst sleep ever and I don't know if I should ask for something stronger for pain. Advil and Tylenol seem to work for like 3 hours and then I'm back in pain again. How are you feeling now??

i was reading up on this! & it seems as if, apparently it isn't the covid vaccine itself that causes shingles... first usually you get shingles if you had chicken pox before or if you were exposed to shingles. if you had chicken pox before it stays dormant in your body and reactivates as shingles with any perceived threat to the immune system. stress can manifest into shingles. and getting any type of vaccine is one thing that activates that stress in the body! so it is not surprising that shingles results from the vaccine. but again, it only makes sense if you already had chicken pox. if you never had chicken pox, and obtained shingles after the vaccine then that is kind of fishy to me !!!

I am so glad I found this forum! I was diagnosed with shingles by my GYN 3 weeks ago on my right but cheek, my anus, and through to my right labia. The diagnosis came 3 days after my second dose of the Moderna vaccine. I was put on 2 courses of Valtrex and managed the pain with ibuprofen. My rashes have pretty much cleared, but nerve pain continues intermittently on my labia. The worst of it is the burning and itching in my rear. It is excruciating and so hard to function. I have been using witch hazel which seems to offer some relief...and also ensures cleanliness down there. Any other recommendations, and perhaps a possible timeline...would be so appreciated! I'm losing hope!

so glad i found this forum. i have been so depressed from an outbreak of sores that sound like shingles on the vulva but my doctor says it looks like herpes. it has spread all over my anus area and feel like hard round sores. Even a new one appeared today and it has no head, just feels like a hard boil on the outer part of my vulva. i started taking valacyclovir but the bumps from friction have become ulcers and although hard, are painful when i wipe or put water on it when i wash. i get my results hopefully tomorrow, but am praying it is not herpes hsv1 or hsv2 and just shingles.

oh and i got the 2nd shot for my vaccine about 2 weeks ago too! i shaved a week ago and had 3 little bumps that have spread like a rash all over my vag lips and now anus! nothing seems to help it get better and they are hard and pussy from the friction. so many keep popping up and its very uncomfortable the most on my butt.

i thought it might have been a bad yeast infection but reading what you guys say, it could be shingles! anyone else have anything else? i am so nervous and so scared. my last partner said he was clean and has no outbreak of herpes and the last one before him months ago says he is clean too.

anyone have any recommendations on what i can use to stop the soreness? i tried antibiotic ointment and that made it BURN and spread even more

i have struggled with this since I was in my late 20's. i would get an outbreak only about 1x per year. if I started my 1000mg Valtrex right away it would knock it out. Trouble is, i got both Moderna Vaccines ans I have been in a constant vulva shingles outbreak for the PAST 2 MOS and my valtrex wont help. the nerve pain also seems worse (its always bad from my vulva/lowback all the way to my toes (only on the one side though), I am essentially lithering all day, even my clothes hurt. i have never had a medication resistent outbreak. i told my mom and my husband that if this lasts forever I wont be able to take it.

37 y/o healthy female (no autoimmune diseases or anything)... I had second vaccine at the end of May and just a few days ago (end of June ) I was diagnosed with shingles.

Bulk of the rash is on my upper left thigh but some tiny blisters did pop up on my left labia towards clitoris. they seem to have scabbed over and the pain there is much less than the pain on my actual skin rash.

Question 1: does anyone have any commentary or feedback on how quickly labia lesions heal up typically with vagina it heals pretty quickly but just curious??

Question 2: did anyone find putting the Vaseline on labia help or make things worse? wondering if I should just leave it alone and let the vagina heal itself because that’s what it typically does?

I know all the doctors are adamant about the vaccine not causing shingles however I think they need to be honest with the fact that the vaccine does cause extreme amount of stress on the body and stress is what causes this terrible virus.

thanks all this forum makes me feel less alone. feeling pretty depressed.

I am so happy to find this. i was just diagnosed with shingles and they started on my left buttock close to my tail bone and ten slowly went to my labia. I also have had my vaccine ( felt pressured to get as a teacher) and i am healthy and eat good and workout so this was a huge shock. I am 34 and had chicken pox as a child so i know i have the virus dormant in my body but as a teacher i deal with stress daily and lost my mom two years ago so this wasnt stress induced because believe me if it was i wouldve had shingles then. My husband and I are very curious and cautious research everything so this was a crazy thing for us to come across. I married my high school sweetheart and this is our 16 year together and we have 3 kids so when the dr said she thought it was herpes i almost died. i asked for a test and it came back shingles.

I was wondering if anyone has healed and when they started to become sexually active with their partner again?

My husband has been amazing and great through this process but ladies have needs too.

I noticed this is a few years old, but I'm hopeful one of you can get back to me. I'm 25 and just found out I have shingles on my vagina. My boyfriend said its weird that I got it on my vagina and is basically accusing me of cheating. I shaved with baby oil which isn't what I normally use and then he and I had sex after then the next day I had the blisters that soon turned into black dots and the rash appeared on my left thigh as well. I'm only about 5 days into my rash popping up and today was the first day taking my valacyclovir and prednisone. The pain has been horrible, but it has only traveled down my leg a couple of times. Its mostly just pain on the affected area. I will appreciate any and all advice anyone has to give.

I am currently suffering from what I believe is shingles on my Labia. My Dr. took a sample to send to the lab and I haven't gotten the results yet. She said since the test was taken approx. 4 days after the outbreak that it could come back negative. I believe she did the herpes type 2 which I don't think I have. I have a strip of blisters along the labia that are causing me incredible pain which is swelled with shooting, burning, itching, very intense and constant. I did have swollen groin glands. The paid is so bad that I can't sleep, sit or walk. She gave me Valtrex and I am using Desitin cream. I find it hard to believe that I could have HV2 because I have been married for 40 years and my husband and I are together all the time, happily I might add and not for the lack of love, have not had relations in some time (due to health issues) So where in the world could I have gotten HV2? I am 66. The week before this outbreak I had to have an indometrial biopsy (negative, thank God) but the pain was severly traumatic as they had go thru 3 wands in order to get thru the cervix and that is what I believe triggered this. Any ideas from anyone would be helpful, I am miserable!

Hey! I know this is for quite a while ago but I was wondering if you got your results back.

Hope you are feeling much better now.
