Shingles on labia.... help!

Posted , 48 users are following.

I was informed that the burning, painful sore on my labia is shingles. I have scoured the internet and have not found this location to be very common. It's been 3 weeks and 1 round of anti virals. The sore has healed but there is a hard lump where the blister was and it still really hurts! I'm not sure what to do. I'm pretty sure I have some nerve damage as my left side gets tingly from the sore both up and down my body. Gabapentin 100 hasn't offered much relief. I'd really like to know if this will go away or if I should be seaking more medical care.

Thanks.

Sorry to here you are having such pain and not finding much relief. I had three sores on my vulva that iI thought were herpies as well. My ex husband had affairs so I just thought it may have been hiding and finally developed. The pain, burning and numbness has lasted for over a month. I could barely walk or sit down some days. Due to Covid, I couldn't go to the Dr. but she prescribed some antiviral meds and the sores went away. The pain and numbness has lessoned quite a bit now. The numbness is in my rectum and both my heels, still. I finally saw the Dr. yesterday and she said she thinks it was shingles, waiting for the blood work results.

I'm happy to see that that there are other woman who had had this issue and we can support each other. It's a horrible thing to go through and it's good to see what other people are doing for relief.

    Take Care

Really sorry all of you ladies are dealing with this but also relieved I'm not alone! I was able to get into a doctor 2 days after my rash began on the left side of my butt. During my examination the doctor and assistant both immediately said it looks like shingles and also did a herpes test to be sure.. She noticed a blister on my inner labia as well that I had not seen. The rash itself really hasn't hurt at all although laying on my side at all times is uncomfortable. My most noticeable symptom is joint and muscle pain and low fever. Something I'm concerned about is the underlying condition that potentially caused this. I'm a healthy 30 year old female aside from some symptoms in the last couple months that the doctor thought sounded like arthritis or lupus. When I searched what could cause shingles to appear from dormant status it said autoimmune conditions like arthritis and lupus. Have any of you since determined if you had an underlying condition that caused your shingles outbreak and what was it?

To future humans who will come across having shingles around their anus and labia... please invest in a bidet. It will save you the pain of having to wipe. i know that at the moment, you are stressing out and trying to figure out why the shingles are showing up in the weirdest place of all...but just know that taking your prescribed antivirals and being comfortable, you will get through it! It has become a memory. It stinks to go through the pain and uncomfortable feeling but it will pass. Take care of yourself and try to stay stress free. ♥
