Shingles over and over

Sorry, to hear of your reoccurring shingles. I was having one outbreak after another too, 6 -7 in a row, always in the same spot. I'm lucky to have it only on the back of my thigh. Same place every time. But I found relief!

I stopped eating nuts because I always broke out after eating them. Then I started breaking out from other things too, chocolate, ginger, etc. Then I remembered that all those things are high in Arginine. To counter that I started taking L-Lysine tablets and using lysine cream on the outbreak spot. I haven't had an outbreak in months! I live in the US and got L-Lysine off the shelf with other vitamins. I take one tablet, 500mg a day. It's an easy fix that the doctors don't acknowledge.

Not sure you actually have shingles. Seems more like severe allergies! Do be cautious of taking any medications without seeing a medical professional first!!

Not allergies. Classic shingle oozing rash, in the same spot every time. Read up on Arginine/ Lysine connection to the herpes/ shingles virus. Lysine is a supplement not a med. Read these blogs to see how little help the medical profession is on relieving reoccurring outbreaks.

I'm sorry to hear about your problem with shingles. I am 53, and have been battling it, since the age of 20. The last 4 to 5 years, it got extremely worse. I was breaking out every month or two. My neurologist put me on Valtrex, 500 mg, every day for the rest of my life, and I break out about once a year. I have a break out right now because the pharmacy forgot to refill my script that had no refills.(call my doc) I have 23 meds, hard to keep track. I have some autoimmune problem. We don't know what for the last 7 to 8 years. Shingles is one of the problems. Valtrex,or valcyclovir, the pill is a blessing. Speak to your doctor and try it.Good luck.

well i found out it is stress related so like we dont already have enough to worry about.

I hope you read my message about this subject below. Ask your doctor, about preventive treatment,with Valtrex or Valcyclovir. It's been working wonders for me for 4 or 5 years!

I am 61 years old but repeatedly get shingles back every 21/2 months. I have been hospitalized 4 times this year for intervenous acyclovir and steroids. I am currently on 1600mg of acyclovir and 60 mg prednisone. My immune system is compromised having non-hodgkins lymphoma. My left eye now has limited vision and recently the virus crossed over to my right side of my head causing Bells Palsy and some right eye involvement. No one seems to know what to do with me. Any advise? I contacted the National Shigles Foundation in NY and hopefully they will be able to direct me to someone who can help. I have been to at least specialists so far. Watch that eye!!!!!
