Shingles - Where do you feel the symptoms?

We all know shingles symptoms being pain, tingling, burning, itching on the skin and we all have had shingles at least once and that is why we are here so in your case(s) "Do you feel above symptons exactly where you later get the blisters and sores later or those sores occur somewhere else some distance away to where the tingling and burning started?"

In my case first time shingles 4 years ago and I had tingling and burning on my thigh and that was exactly where I got blisters and sores later but this time since May I have had recurring problem (my doctor says it is shingles but I am not so sure as based on what I have read herpes simplex symptoms and pictures are identical to shingles but simplex not zoster is the one which recurrs).

In these recent cases unlike 4 years ago it starts with pain in my left arm, then burning and tingling starts on the skin of my left arm and round wrist and top of my left hand and then two days later very tiny blisters occur on completely different place, that is on the palm of my left hand on a small area below my middle finger. The tiny blisters join up to form two or three larger blisters turning red a week later becoming sore and falling off. No red patches as I see in pictures. Thank you in advance.

I am one of the lucky ones that gets to experience this over and over and over again.

Mine are attached to the sciatic nerve.

First indicator is extreme, to the point of being unable to bend, pain in the lower lumbar/sacrum area, with aching pains into the buttocks and/or groin. 3-4 days later the hypersensitive skin begins. The tingling and burning all around the upper thigh, so sensitive that clothing touching it causes pain. Two days later the rash will appear. First it's red blotches on the skin and an intense burning under the skin. Less than 24 hours later the first blisters will appear. And mine "travel". My first bout the rash appeared directly under my buttocks. The current one, the warning pains were focused more to the front of the thigh, and the rash has moved more to the outer thigh.

The vaccine. Yes, the vaccine. I was unable to do Zostavax because it contains neomycin, which I am highly sensitive to. So when Shingrix was released, I got excited. 3 weeks ago today I had the 1st of 2 shots of Shingrix, which in itself is a nightmare. Extreme tenderness of the arm muscle, and 2 days later lymph node in the armpit gets involved.

So imagine my surprise when last weekend I started feeling the "warning" pains in my lower back. Sunday & Monday, back pain. Monday & Tuesday, hypersensitive skin. Tuesday night, red blotches. Wednesday morning, blister. And the pain in the area of the front part of the upper thigh is awful! I've never had this before.

Thursday I had an already scheduled visit with my primary Dr. He was shocked when I told him I had shingles, after the 1st vaccine. And because I received the vaccine, we had not renewed my prescription of Acyclovir, which I have kept on hand for years.

I'm anxiously awaiting the 2nd shot at the end of June, to see if I still have my regular 3-4 outbreaks a year.

And no, my immune system is not compromised. I never get sick, ever.
