I take it daily for suppressive therapy and have no side effects aside from a little vaginal burning (VERY minimal). Everyone is different, but you should be ok smile

Is vaginal burning during menstrual cycle a symptom of GH?
    • Posted

Not sure if that is a symptom or not but I tend to get that too since taking Valtrex, so it could very well be lol

Oh no I was just asking, not related to the side effects question because that happened to me with my last period before I was diagnosed..

I have had HSV2 for 18 years and vaginal burning has never been a problem for me on my period prior to Valtrex. Do you get internal blisters? If so that may be the cause

I don't know never had a outbreak or should I say didn't get one yet I was diagnosed a few days ago you can read my other posts if you like to get some back ground ... do you have kids ? (That's my biggest concern with this ) sigh

I've got a quick question for anyone reading this post. Have any of you been on suppressive therapy without ever having a single outbreak? If so, please tell us how you were diagnosed. I'm trying my best to help a confused young lady and any input would be helpful. Thanks in advance 😊

You already agreed that your doctor is "silly" after some of us pointed out to you how grossly misinformed she is about herpes blood testing. We have explained to you EXTENSIVELY about the blood tests and your results, and encouraged you to corroborate this advice by Googling things for yourself (e.g., CDC, ASHA), which you said you did.

ONCE AGAIN, you are negative by IgG after 5+ months ago, so are in the clear and have never even had an outbreak. The IgM results should be disregarded, and so should your doctor's advice about taking the meds, since it is based on the flawed IgM test and absolutely NOTHING else, assuming you have told us the full story.

You know all of this, so why then are you still acting so "devastated" and blindly following your "silly" doctor? Having seen all of your posts from the beginning, I am not going to pussyfoot about the issue, but it really seems to me that you want to believe you have herpes, possibly for attention on this forum. I have come across others like that on here from time to time, and honestly suggest you seek counselling instead, especially in light of what you said in your very first post. This is not normal behaviour.

How could you say that I am acting or looking for attention, I appreciate everything you guys are saying but this is very traumatic and new to me I'm very confused because you guys are saying one thing and the doctor is saying another I don't know what to do at this point ... I am putting this out in hopes that anyone who has been through a similar scenario can shed light I am honestly very confused but I am being honey I don't know what to do ...

No dear, you've learned and yet your responses to others are that you're starting suppressive therapy...you've started several posts and each new post contains different aspects of your story so people are responding only based on what they see in that particular post...your full story is very clear and you've taken heed to nothing that's been explained to you so I can see how one may say it seems you're doing this for attention...you have received responses, very detailed responses from some of the most hsv educated individuals on the site...you've been directed to government sites, advised to seek a second opinion and have done absolutely nothing with the information that's been provided so please tell me what it is exactly...why do you think I posted a question on this post asking for anyone that has been on suppressive therapy without a single outbreak???? How many responses did you see?!?

Isn't this what this website is for? To ask all the questions you want about herpes? If she is trying to look for attention or not her questions may help others who actually have herpes because some of us actually do have you heard if you got nothing nice to say don't say it at all? That goes to everyone else saying she's looking for attention no one knows her story, she could actually have it to but not saying that she does because she's embarrassed about it some people are like that. She can ask all the questions she wants to.

I suggest you read her original few posts because yes this site is to answer questions about herpes...many people on this site either have or fear they do have herpes that's what brings us here! Many questions are being answered and will continue to be answered, starting several different posts however with bits and pieces of information from the first is quite misleading...you are absolutely correct about not saying anything if it isn't nice, nobody has said anything mean, facts and research have been provided...think for a second if you were to stumble upon a 14 year old child scared that they've contracted a disease and they come to you for help...they've spoken with one doctor that may have given them false information and want to put them on medication even though medical evidence suggests not to...would you want to suggest to that child to research, get another medical opinion and get the help they truly need or would you suggest they just go with what the dr says or better yet read a post similar to their own current situation and think oh the dr must be right cause it happened to xxx? Which would you prefer?

If you would like to help...I asked on this post if anyone had been placed on suppressive therapy without ever having an outbreak? If you have please share your story so everyone can understand.

She looked at a combined test and said it means genital herpes. I am completely new to this and idk what to do ... at the obgyn she told me it was positive for hsv1 I don't know what to do but I will try and find a new better doctor .. I just cannot handle the run around and the waiting for results it's tiring

Igm is useless. Igg we can talk, if your obgyn said you tested positive for hsv 1 by igg then you are positive for hsv 1...even if he gave you oral it would still be hsv 1 genital! It can not, will not change to hsv 2. If you have hsv 1 genitally and have never had an outbreak you really don't need suppressive therapy. Individuals are prescribed suppressive therapy to "suppress" the outbreaks and keep them from coming back over and over again but you stated you never even had one so why medicate yourself for no reason. I have genital hsv 1...my bf had oral hsv 1 and performed oral on me...the initial outbreak was horrible and it was over a year ago.

Ok I'm sorry for all this confusion but I will not post again until I have some solid proof of something being positive or if I develop an outbreak.. I'll just be reading others discussions... btw both my igg results were negative @ (0.10) for 1&2. Separate test not combined.

I did a test back in May (3+ months post exposure) which they only tested for hsv2 with the igg and that result was the same @ (0.1) right?

Also in may they tested a combined igm test for 1 and 2 and that result was 1.0 equivocal.

And then tested again recently with the same combined igm test for both and it went up to 1.70 maybe that is why the doctor decided to put me on the meds I don't know but I will go somewhere else to seek better information.
