Hi Ive been wondering whether to see what I would be like coming off propranolol 10 mg. THe reason I ask this is because I have two boxes of 28 plus one strip of 14 left and Im wondering whether to not do a repeat prescription once they run out. Has anyone came off them suddenly or been tapered off instead

Hi All! My post here is new compared to the original question regarding the possible side effects of coming off of Propranolol, however, I would still like to add a couple of comments. First off, when I decided to come off of propranolol I was taking a 40mg dose morning and night for 3 years, however, I did start with a 10mg dose twice a day with a gradual taper-on, so to speak. The reason I was put on this medication, was for a basic twitch that I experienced in both hands, primarily fingers. The meds did help with the problem, however, I would occasionally use a Symbacort inhaler for shortness of breath upon waking. and was recently advised by a medical team that the 2 meds taken in the same 24hr period can cause a serious side-effect of overly constricting air passages (air ways), which totally negates the benefits of using the inhaler, making catching your breath that much more difficult. That being said, in Canada medical professionals recommend that you taper-off over a 7- day period (so from 10mg to 5mg, which was previously stated), as it is just going to guarantee you a more comfortable experience, and why take the risk of a having a bad reaction!!
Unfortunately, I have also had very sudden weight gain, mostly around the mid-section, which I have never had to deal with and I am now 53 years of age! Thank you to the Members that provided that bit of information, as I would have never associated the weight gain I was experiencing to the discontinuation of propanolol.
My last comment is for Vanessa, that mention the taking of Lorsartan for BP, as I also previously used it to control high BP . I see that your comment was 8 months ago, however, I just wanted to mention in case you are not aware, the manufacturers of this BP medication were order to cease all production, distribution and sales of Lorsartan, as it has been shown to cause a very serious medical condition, and last I heard, Class-Action Lawsuits have been filed and continue to do so, gathering momentum at the time of this writing.
My thoughts, prayers and best wishes are with You All.
